Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
The Lakes was very pretty and looked like a nice place to live.
After a few months the problems with this place became very apparent...
- Parking -
Parking spaces are narrow - leaving your car cramped on both sides if an SUV parks near you.
- Staff -
The staff was friendly but inefficient; the manager may or may not be present to deal with real issues.
Of course, the staff will just refer to you to the manager if you have a real problem.
After chasing the manager for over a week (with daily calls) one problem we had is still not resolved.
- Repairs -
Repairs are very very slow to be done.
There are no guarantees or estimates on when they will get done.
Very dissapointed.
You get put on a list.
If you are not home when they arrive, you get put back on the bottom of the list :(
- Washer and Dryer -
Horrible smell comes from the washer/dryer whenever you use it.
We tried bleach, air fresheners, everything.
Its nice to have them inside but ours stunk!
- Pets -
We were first attracted to this complex because they advertised small pets.
Its a lie - dogs run all over.
Some without leashes.
- Ducks -
There is a nice lake outside with ducks and wildlife.
However, one day we heard what sounded like a gun outside.
Two weeks later we found out someone shot a duck to eat.
The kids that wander through the area to school constantly throw rocks at the ducks and break their eggs.
We were very sad to see all this happen - and the office did nothing about it.
We also heard one of the tentants put his dog onto a duck.
Nothing was done about this either.
Its a beautiful serene setting until you see people hurling rocks at the wildlife.
What is wrong with these people'
- Rain gutters -
We had to clean our own rain gutters - they are not maintained.
-Trash area-
The trash is constantly overflowing.
It does not appear to be picked up regularly; rather the maintenance people in the complex move it to a compactor unit on the premises.
