Meh. It's ok, but you can do better just down the street

I'm surprised that in an area so overwhelmed with apartment complexes like Murrayhill, that The Overlook doesn't work harder to stay competitive. The apartments are smaller than the typical places, but the prices are about the same.
I lived there for two years and moved out for a few reasons:
The noise level right on Murray BLVD (if your building is up front) is pretty awful.
The maintenance (which I understand has changed hands now) was atrocious. There were messes and incomplete fixes and constant apartment invasions.
The rent goes up every year. The one bedroom and a den apartment (around 760 sq feet) was going for $795 by the time I left.
The outdoor improvements (painting, roofing etc) were so drawn out and invasive. I didn't feel like they made the place any more liveable either.
However:
Murrayhill (the area) is a great place to live. It's right next to Safeway and not too far from Walgreens. I loved being able to walk everywhere to run errands. There's also an exremely convenient Safeway Gas nearby.
The grounds at The Overlook are well kept and if you're lucky enough to live in an inner unit, you get to see the grounds themselves. Otherwise, you face parking lot, but that's par for the course.
The parking is probably the worst thing about The Overlook. Because the management put in garages (to make more money) there are NO visitor parking spots. In fact, if your household has more than one car (as many do) there is absolutely no place to put the second car. You can't even BUY another space! If people come to visit, they have to park miles away. It's the very worst thing about the complex in my opinion.

I don't think it's fair to blame the current management for putting in the garages. To my understanding, this management is fairly new and the garages have been there for many many years. I could never hear the traffic on Murray. The parking does suck, but the beauty and friendliness of the staff makes up for it.
