I had looked at these apartments a few years ago and yearned to live here but it was out of my price range at the time. Last year I finally decided my finances were in order enough to ditch the roommate and scene and get my own place. The Overlook has been great. They got me into an apartment in a good amount of time. Other places were saying things like "Yeah..we'll take the deposit now but the move in date is four months out". Atrocious! The apartments are large enough, clean, and well equipped. I was a tad disappointed because all the photos show built-in microwaves and I arrived to a gaping hole and an apology. However it was not by any means a deal breaker. Closet shelves and ample kitchen room plus a built-in kitchen desk area made up for it and I found a cheapie microwave for my needs anyway.
Grounds are clean and well kept. Garbage areas have recycling and cardboard bins, a BIG step up from the last place where everyone shoved everything from papers to old TV's in the trash compactors. I have no issue with parking. You get one spot, there are five or six Visitor spots within site of my porch, and there's also a street to park on which I don't believe is restricted. I feel very safe at night, walking to get my mail or run an errand. It's a low crime neighborhood and I've never even seen a cop car. There is a grocery store, pharmacy, 24hr Fitness, 4 banks, and many small stores within walking distance. It's on 2 major bus lines and 10 minutes to the mall.
Noise is minimal. I have yet to see a child period and I've been here three months. I do have some neighbors who like to stomp around wearing combat boots, but it's only annoying when I sit in silence. The staff is friendly and gets on things quickly. I asked for a bathroom repair and it was done within in hour! Of course, not every request can be that quick, I asked on a dead Sunday morning. But still, they are on top of things.
