I lived here for about 9 months in 2006-2007. Living there was pleasant. People are friendly and don't really disturb you.

However, we were promised new carpets and they never came. When we moved out they tried to charge us for cleaning them even though we left them the same as how we got them. They DO try to charge ridiculous things like dust on the blinds or dust on the water heater. They tell you things are fine when you move in, but then they try to charge you for them when you leave. At the end of the day, they're just a business trying to make as much money as possible.

They were going to charge us above and beyond our security deposit so I made sure I wrote the best dispute letter possible. I disputed almost everything in writing and I never heard from them again. The letter might have been just that good or it might have been the fact that they never gave us a final walk through. Anyway, I'll never live at a CTL managed property ever again.

I live at a CTL managed complex now and I've noticed a real trend in the complaints. Especially about move outs! My neighbor moved out recently and we became friends not to long before that. I've spoken to him about his move out and some of the complaints are just his fault anyway. I haven't gotten a hold of the statement that he received from CTL when they took his deposit and charged him an extra $100. But I went through his Apt with him before he left and the only thing was the painting. I don't know how much it costs to paint an apt but I'm sure it isn't a months rent (maybe I???m in the wrong profession). I still live at a CTL managed complex and finally had a problem with one of my blinds so I called to see if they could come and replace it or fix it. It wasn't broken and none of the blades were bent so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal for them. I come to find out that even though it didn't show up on the list of Wear and Tear/Damage, it is still my responsibility. The damn things lines are wearing a little. It has been in that apt for who know how long. But I will have to pay for it. Now it isn't a big deal, it's only a freakin blind (the biggest in the apt), but now I'm worried about when I move out. From what I've read on this site about most of the CTL managed apartments, looks like I may have to start saving earlier then usual before I move to a new apt. Hopefully I can get into a house sooner then later. Good luck to all of you trying to find a decent place to live! Just remember if it's CTL Managed, you're probably not going to have a great experience when the time comes to move out. On a positive note, I did want to say that the people at the office in my complex are not that bad, a little rude but I don't give a crap what they think. People are nice and parking is fine. It's just the move out process that stinks and some of the things that end up being our fault as when it should be true WEAR AND TEAR.
