This apartment has been a disaster from the start. The only reason I chose it was because I was moving from Seattle to the Portland area and needed something immediately. I didn't have a lot of time to look around.
The staff is wonderful, but that is the only good part.
One thing I stressed when I moved in was the ability to have high-speed internet. Since the complex is right down the street from Nike and IBM, you would think that's a no-brainer. I was told that there are people in the complex with DSL through Verizon but in order to know if my unit can have it or not, I need to get a phone number and then have Verizon test the lines. Well, come to find out - my building has loads on the line and no one in my building can have DSL until they upgrade the lines. The cable is ANALOG, not digital and there's no option to upgrade to digital either. So, there's no cable internet. They've been "working on" getting us high-speed internet since the beginning of August when I moved in. There's still no end in sight on that issue.
On to the apartment....
The kitchen might as well not exist - it is the tiniest kitchen I've ever had. It has no counter space and NO storage space. We've had to put most of our tupperware and large pots & pans in storage as there is absolutely nowhere to put them.
The closets are very small, there is no storage on the deck and no pantry.
The walls are paper thin - in my bedroom in the evening I can hear the neighbors' phone ringing, I can hear them laugh, yell, cough, and sneeze. Sometimes I can hear their conversations too.
The bathrooms are also small. We have a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath unit, but the master bathroom and extra full bath are so small, you can only have one person in them at a time. My husband uses the master bathroom and all my stuff is in the other upstairs bathroom. That's the only way we fit all our stuff. There is only one under-the-sink cabinet in each bathroom. The master bathroom has one small drawer, but that's it.
The painting and upkeep of the apartments is bad too. When they repaint the units between tenants, they obviously don't tape off anything, because there is paint smeared on counters, drawers, cabinets, and sockets. It's awful.
There is no assigned parking, so when my husband, who works swing shift, gets home he has to park a good distance from our apartment. There have been several car prowls and thefts since I've lived there.
All in all I cannot wait to move next August.
