I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, and find the rent very reasonable. The office staff is professional and friendly, and have always responded to concerns (noise being the main one--mainly barking dogs cooped up in their apt and bored).
I love facing the courtyard, although the sun is horrible in the afternoon. Landscaping is kept up and I love the look of the grounds.
Work orders have been fulfilled promptly and satisfactorily.
Walls are thin--fortunately my neighbors are quiet.
I've enjoyed the renter appreciation weeks 2-3 times a year, and have received nice bonuses upon renewing my lease each year.
Upon moving in I found a goodie basket with snack foods, drinks, and coupons, and was given a free storage unit for use "temporarily". It's been 3 years and they still aren't charging me for it! Last year I received a several hundred dollar thank you for referring a friend that also moved in.
Downsides: Lack of parking in the evenings, irresponsible pet owners, noise potential, non-residents using the pool, and lack of AC.
