We moved in at the end of December 2001, and left in August 2002. The walls in the apartments are paper thin. I had the bedroom by the stairs, and I could hear every step anyone took. I could hear my boyfriend mumbling in his sleep in the next room. We also had issues about moving in with a cracked refridgerator shelf. They did replace that without charge. However, we had a light fixture missing its cover in the bedroom. I am almost positive that I told someone in the office about this when I went to complain about the dryer knob being busted. They never made note of it and charged $70 or so to replace the entire fixture when we moved out. The night of moving out, we were working late to clean the apartment. We had filled the dumpster near us to the brim, so we were dragging things to a different dumpster further away. While doing this, I ran into a man digging through the dumpster. At this point, I was fed up. I packed some garbage into my car, but I left a cardboard box, and old monitor, and two working lamps that wouldn?t fit in my vehicle. They charged me $100 to haul it away. I wrote a letter explaining all this (since I wasn?t about to pay them more money on top of the security deposit), but I haven?t heard from them yet. I suppose they decided to pretend like it never happened. If you do move in to these places, take *lots* of pictures. Take pictures of absolutely everything, from the toliets, to the ceilings, to the stains under the sinks. That way, you might be able to avoid paying them additional money beyond the security deposit that they will inevitably take.

Also, we had a sprinkler head break in front of our apartment. It took about 2 weeks for them to mosey on over to fix it. In the meantime, it sprayed our windows every night.

*Update*
I had sent them a letter with photos to dispute some of their claims in November 2002. At the end of April 2003, I received a response to my letter and a request for money. I did get them to reduce the amount we owed them a little bit, but the fact is it took them six months to respond to a one-page letter. I had long since forgotten about them.

You are not the only person living there. You have some good advice to take pix but seriously be accountable for something!
