Good basic apartment on a budget

I lived at Broadway Center when I was a law student and stayed there for a little over a year, from 2001-2002. I wanted to live by myself but was on a tight budget, and this place fit my needs perfectly (around $530/month for a 1 bedroom). I wasn't looking for fancy amenities, just a clean, well-maintained, safe, and affordable apartment complex that wasn't too far from campus and downtown. If that sounds like what you're looking for, this place will probably work for you.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The parking situation was pretty good -- there was some free parking available in the lot and also on the street, or you could pay a low monthly fee for the covered parking. I never had any problems with pests or insects. There's only one laundry room for the 4-building complex, but it's large. The location is also pretty good, within walking distance of downtown, a short drive to campus (less than 10 min.), and right on a bus route. Noise was a minor problem at times. Try to get an apartment facing the parking lot or Broadway. My apartment faced Washington St. right near a stop light, so noise from traffic could be a problem. I also had some noisy neighbors, but management helped take care of the problem. Also note that the 1-bedroom apartments are rather small (around 550 sq. ft.) and have pretty limited storage.
