I have lived at Forest Hills for over two years. I am a student and purposefully chose an apartment away from school and the noise and distractions of campus life. I will however be moving out as soon as my lease is up.
The staff that helped me when I moved in was helpful and courteous but did not race to make me feel at home. I have had minimal experience with the new staff except the almost daily slips they tape to my door asking me to fill out a form or sign this or that. I don't bother doing it because frankly, I don't care.
The maintenance is very good. I have had a couple of things break around my apartment and they have always been very prompt to fix everything. Parking is fine because I have my own spot and there seems to be parking in the open spots for my friends etc. But, I have noticed lately there have not been enough spots open and also, the people that come and go at all hours of the morning are thumping the bass systems in their cars at a ridiculous level. Um..dude, that's not cool.
Noise is my biggest complaint. It's definintely not the fault of my neighbors upstairs. I have had three different neighbors upstairs and while I know they try to be quiet it sounds like a heard up above me. I can actually hear when my male neighbor above me uses the facilities. If you know what I mean. VERY ANNOYING when you're trying to go to bed at night. I think it's due to the shoddy, economy construction.
I have definitely noticed a change in the place since the new management has taken over. From the sounds of things, I could never pay my rent and they wouldn't even notice!
If you can handle the noise and the management it's a fine place to live. I would recommend Forest Hills for a younger crowd only at this point which is unfortunate.
