an absolute nightmare
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/23/2004
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
from the other reviews it seems they've gone under new management which i can only hope means they've gotten better, but i lived here from 2001 to 2002 and hated every moment of it.
i will give credit where it is due -- the layouts are great with spacious living rooms and ample storage in the kitchen and large patios/decks
everything else was horrible. they changed their minds about how much of a deposit they wanted right after we were committed to move there(from 250 to 695. i was promised the end-unit i was shown, and given a unit in the middle with neighbors above, below and to the sides of me (which i found out only after signing my lease). the walls didn't allow for too much sound leakage, but the floors and ceilings let so much sound through i could hear my upstairs and downstairs neighbors every move (including being able to hear them showering, from my living room). i transfered apartments while here, and was promised one date, and less than 48 hours before that was told it'd be a couple more days before i could move. in this waiting time, a manager entered my apartment while i was sleeping (yes, ENTERED my apartment with a master key and no warning) and then had the gall to ask why i was still there (as i stood in my pajamas, living out of boxes) when they were the ones delaying my move! they gave me the keys 4 days late in the late afternoon and wanted me out in under 48 hours from the old apartment, i ended up wasting concert tickets to make this deadline.
and after that' they told me my rent was 20 dollars higher than it was! so i overpaid the whole time (got it back in the end, along with a "late fee" they made me pay, but apparently didn't document so they just put it as overpaid/credit on my ledger)... then about two months later i started getting calls from a manager there threatening to give me a "write up" for "non compliance" if i didn't come sign a lease immediately (yep, they FORGOT to put me on a lease). not to mention, since my apartment featured a view of Beltline Highway, my apartment had an "air conditioner" so i could cool it down without hearing traffic, except using the air conditioner made the entire unit smell like an old refridgerator.
and the neighbors! my downstairs neighbor would come knock on my door and ask me to turn it down EVERY time he heard ANYTHING (i gave him my phone # to save him the trouble because initially i felt bad...until he started calling me every single day because i played some music in the early afternoons -- it wasn't even loud, there's just no soundproofing in floor/ceiling division) .... my upstairs neighbors were noisy, i didnt really care until i was woken at 4am by blaring Pink Floyd. i called the management the next day and complained...i thought they handled this until 2 weeks later i got a call from a manager explaining to me that we "have a problem" because they've had a complaint about noise from my apartment at 4am and apparently it was Pink Floyd i was playing. they took two weeks to respond to my complaint, then called the wrong party! the woman all but called me a liar when i told her i was the complainer rather than the complainee!
overall, it was terrible. there was a manager named Tina there who was very nice and seemed to know her stuff, but even that worked against the tenants. have a question' ask any manager you want, unless you asked Tina, you'd be told to come back when Tina would be working.
but, this was all in 2001 & 2002, so hopefully they've improved. i have a few friends that lived there as well though, and all of us from that era all had similar nightmares.
