indecent and unethical management and staff

We moved from renting a home to living in this apartment. We signed a lease and it took them several days to get us access to our garage. Two months later, our smoke detector batteries needed to be replaced. It took numerous requests over a 2 week time period before management finally had them replaced. We quickly learned that maintenance would be at their leisure. We requested maintenance to fix our window, which does not shut correctly and left close to a one inch gap at the widest section. We also requested to have our stove fixed (any time the oven or a burner was on, two of the other burners and the surrounding areas became ultra hot, where you couldn't touch the area). Our requests were dismissed. We were told to write up a work request, but they could not gaurantee nor would they set a date or time to fix it. This is difficult when you have a pet you need to have vacated from the apartment for maintenance to be able to come in. Management would give a time frame of a few days to a month to provide maintenance. They were very specific to say that other things do come up, and our requests would have to wait. Management then would tell us to deal with it ourselves. When our mailbox was jamming, as well as others, they told us to fix it ourselves. People were getting their keys stuck in the mailboxes and pulling out the entire mailbox unit to get their keys out, exposing other's mailboxes and it's contents.
Now to say something nice: The layout of the apartments is nice and they accept larger dogs. Nice is over with that said. Mold does grows fast in the apartments, and you have to keep on top of the mold on the decks, window sills, ceilings (don't expect any sympathy from management on this issue or if you don't smoke but your neighbor's do and your home is now a smoker's haven).
If you do decide to rent here, make sure you READ everything before you sign. There was misleading information provided upon signing the lease, and they rushed us through the paperwork so fast, we didn't read the fine print or details. Now we have suffered financially from the "fine" print. And, none of the items that needed to be fixed are fixed. We understand now there are tenant rights to protect tenants, however, several of the people we met here, whom has since moved, were retaliated against and charged incredible high rent increases over what tenants in the same class of apartment, higher late fees than what contract stated, were threatened with eviction when they complained of people playing their drums or slamming doors after midnight. (It turned out that the people slamming doors and fighting was a staff person and her s.o. and people playing drums were friends of management.)
The management is very unprofessional, discourteous, and it may be due to that these are mostly girls probable between 20-25. I had a unfavorable accounter with the mainenance man, and felt threatened. I also witnessed a young female staff member being rude to a women most likely in her 80's. The 80yr old's comment upon walking out the door: "this is what I get for 935.00 a month'".
OVERALL: this is not a good place to rent. Management staff needs to be replaced.
