While the apartments are some of the most spacious in Eugene, quiet, and on an excellent bus line, I have had problems three times with the deposit not being refunded and more being charged than what is reasonable. I lived in three different apartments there, and the previous tenants of our last one had been evicted. They had left the carpet full fo stains etc, but as we had asked to be able to move into an apartment as soon as possible, we agreed to move in with the carpet as it was, in the asusmption that they would not charge US instead with the replacement. When I saw the guy who puts in carpets for McKenna, and asked him how much it would cost to have it replaced (as I was thinking of having it done myself), he gave me the various prices for various sized apartments. I asked the management if I could have it replaced, and they said that that was not possible, that only they could authorize that. Then when we moved out and received the overview of what they had charged us, we found that they had taken our $850 deposit AND wanted $600 more, $1200 of which was supposedly for a new carpet, which is hundreds of dollars more than the company itself had quoted to me, even though McKenna Estates continues to insist that they charge exactly what they were charged themselves (which is clearly a lie). Besides, the carpet had needed replacement before we moved in, they had no right to charge us for the stains that the tenants before us had caused. I refused to pay and as a result they have sent this on to a credit agency. I have been living outside the country for a year and am returning this week and considering taking legal action to get a refund of my deposit and to clear my otherwise perfect credit record.

Oh, in addition, they do not enforce their parking policy and parking places are not assigned on an individual basis. Not only do they refuse to tow cars without a parking permit, we once called a towing company because EVERY spot in the parking lot was full due to several parties at various apartments. Rather than towing the cars that did not have a permit, they STOPPED the towing company from towing away even a SINGLE car, and we were forced to park on the street instead, where cars get hit by drunk student drivers on a daily basis.

I lived in those apartments for 4 years and loved them. I had no problems...in fact, they were so helpful and friendly. Everyone I know that has lived there loves them.

lived here for 5 years, and loved them as well. Never had any problems. The parking policy is very well enforced, especially during the duck games. If you don't have a sticker, your not getting in. That's that. As for parties, that's hardly a concern, since there is a bar near by that all the kids go to. vehicles without permits has never been a problem.

WE had problems too. It's intersting the only responses are to the NO ratings. And half of these are from the manager. GQPAULY, Farrell....yes, all the manger. Thanks Paul, but you are the primary reason people thinks this place sucks

Your problem is belied by this quote:
"in the asusmption that they would not charge US instead with the replacement."
You should have filled out a move-in inspection report and got it in writing that the carpet was damaged before you moved in. Your own fault if you didn't.

I had almost the exact same complaints and I did document the damage and poor condition of my carpets upon move-in!
