there are pros AND cons of course

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
When i was looking for an apartment in West Eugene i did look into all the other options and Parkside seemed to be the best value for what you got. I've lived here for a few years or so and here's what i've come up with.
PROS:
-I love the modern and new appearance of the units, and the vaulted ceilings are GREAT!
-The office staff are very friendly and you can tell they try to be as helpful as possible.
-Maintenance requests seem to be handled in a decently timely manner.(just dont expect more than a cheap fix)
-The landscaping and grounds are clean and well kept.
-Parking lot and grounds are well lit, the place feels very safe even at night.
-Un-reserved parking spots are quite adequate compared to some apartments i have visited!
-The location is great- walking distance from doctors offices, dental office, grocery store, bus stops, convenience store, park, etc.
-Its generally quiet around here...(as much as can be expected at an apartment complex anyways). Of course there are always cars coming and going, but people dont tend to hang out outside alot. There are trains you can hear sometimes, but we seem to be far enough away that it's not bothersome at all, just faintly heard.
-I think the continental breakfast is an awesome thing they offer, though i'm seldom up that early!
-indoor basketball court, weight room, and hot tub are very nice to have availible. Also, I have a room-mate that dilly dallys in our only bathroom, its been nice to be able to go down to the "clubhouse" (where the basketball gym and such is) to use the bathroom in the locker rooms in emergencies!
-The little fenced garbage areas are nicely concealed and i love the co-mingled recycling!
-Washer and dryer in each apartment is a HUGE plus! MUCH more convenient than a shared laundry facility!
-back porches/back patios are super nice for being able to BBQ in the summer!
-The little closet on the back porch of each apartment is really bigger than it looks, you can keep quite a bit of stuff in there!
-They have a hose in a specific area near the office for washing your car. I've appreciated that!
-Rent also covers comcast cable. LOVE it! You can contact comcast and have them add internet service too, you just have to pay for it on your own.
-The office has a pretty good selection of DVDs that you can check out for no charge!
CONS:
-My BIGGEST pet peeve....My car doesn't stay clean for more than 12 hours parked here! The sprinkler system oversprays the grass and hits the cars which causes them to have a dirty film....Whoever picked out the trees they planted around here should have to park their car here daily because There's sappy stuff all over my car lately, what a pain. Then the lawn maintenance guys come through to edge the grass and blow dirt all over that sticks to it. What an icky mess. :(
-Again about the trees around here...there are all different kinds, but I got stuck with one that stinks really bad at one point in the year, then sheds petals all over my car, then drops berry-like things that you have to be careful not to track in on your shoes! Some days i wish i could just chop it down! I AM thankfull for the privacy it gives me by shielding my bedroom window though.
-Those lawn maintenance guys have been working very early lately. I've heard it be very noisy around here with mowers and such as early as 7:45 am on weekdays.(luckily i work an 8-5 monday through friday job, or i would not be a very happy camper!)
-I've been woke up more than once way too early on a lazy sleep in saturday by the noises of bums digging through the trash. I wish the "private property, no trespassing" was more enforced! I also with the other residents wouldnt put pop cans and such in there, it just encourages them to come!
-In the winter: expect to have the heat on ALOT. Poorly insulated building, drafty doors and windows, etc make the heat dissappear real quick.
-In the summer: If you don't have an air conditioner and plan to pay the maintenance workers to install & un-install it....invest it several box fans. I open the place up and have fans on in the windows at night and close it up first thing in the morning and it seems bearable except for those few really really hot days.
-If you dont have an alarm on your vehicle, you'll be wise to invest in one. Cars have known to be stolen out of the parking lot.(hondas and toyotas especially beware!) That magic little blinking light seems to do the trick though...i havent heard of anyone with an alarm having any problems!
-The spiders.....seem to take over the exterior at a certain time of year...maybe not a big deal if you're not a girly girl like me...but i keep a can of spider killer on hand. I wish they would spray something around to get rid of them on the porches and such at least!
-If you live in an upstairs unit count on having to vacuum the carpet on your front door porch and wipe down the railing to the stairs occasionally. It can get pretty dirty and nobody cleans it as far as i can tell.
Over-all I think Parkside is a GREAT apartment complex to live in....probably the best in the area....but i still can't wait to buy a house!
