I moved into Redwood Park when it was managed by a very kind man and his wife. The managers, the workers in the office and the maintenance staff lived on site. They all had great pride in the complex and understood the unique problems of each tenant.
Then the man and wife that managed the complex retired and the management was taken over by BMG. They came in and made the biggest mess of the place. Their new rules made the existing workers so mad every single one of them quit (and I belive they moved). I said "hello" to one of the grounds keepers that I had gotten to know while I was renting and he told me that he was incouraged not to talk to the tenants. BMG changed all of the existing policies and rules-from parking to late rent. They increased the rent. These changes were upsetting to me and I had only lived there for three years. There were some tenants that had lived there for 10 years and all of a sudden the rules changed.
The care that each tenant and appartment get from BMG is little to none. Often times I recived notices to pay rent that I had already paid. My appartment was infested with ants and I complained over and over again to them. Usualy I had to wait for months on end for the scheduled bug spray (which never helped) and often times they spray person would never come. Ants ate the wrapped candy canes right off of my Christmas tree! It was the most awfull thing that had ever happend to me. My two next door neighbors and upstairs neighbor had the same problem with ant infestation.
Not suprisingly many people moved out, including my self. When I moved out I broke my lease. Which I was told by the office manager would be alright and that she understood and that I would not be charged any extra fees. However, when I turned in my keys I was told that BMG had changed their mind and that I would be responsible to pay the rent untill my appartment was filled.
These appartments are beautifull. They are surounded by huge redwood trees with a little park nestled in the center of the trees. But, I would not recomend moving in while BMG still runs the place.
