Yo!

Steadily Declining

Like the last few people, I too have lived here for about a year and a half. There are many pro's and con's.

Pro's-
The maintenance guy rocks! He truly works hard! Mostly quiet. I don't hear any noise through the walls, only the neighbors stomping and dog running. (And the nightly bed squeaking above mine... No way to help that I suppose.) There are quite a few families, so for the most part, people are respectful. They welcome large breed dogs, and have a nice open lawn right behind my apt. The maintanence guy is on top of repairs. He is fast and efficient. The lay out is open and warm. The bedrooms are huge! It's really close to the freeway, but you can't hear it. There's bus stops on Sandy right outside our complex to go both directions.

Con's-
First off, back to the maintanence guy... the first manager we had when I moved in fired the professional landscaping crew, so in addition all of the "regular maintenance", in the summer he does ALL of the landscaping. There's alot of grass, and he trims hedges, edges, and does all the lawn maintanence. It just seems since they've raised my rent $100 since I first moved in, that they could hire the landscaping crew again. THE PARKING SUCKS!!! if you have more than one car. Your choices are: pay something like $50/mo for a garage (good luck getting one, last time I inquired, there was a year and a half waiting list. LITERALLY!); park on Sandy Blvd. (out here that's not such a great street.) or drive around for an hour until someone leaves a visitor spot. There has been multiple issues with car break-ins. Someone cut my neighbors gas lines to steal their gas a week after they moved in. My car was broken into and approx $1500 worth of stereo equipment gone. (They disabled my alarm.) My car parks right in front of my roommates window, under a lit carport. Security' Sure, some old guy in a sercurity SUV blows through the parking lot a couple times a night, but never steps foot on the property to walk any of the sidewalks, just drives though around 10p and 2a about 20 mph watching the road. Nice... My friend had her Volvo wagon pried open with a crow bar and her bike stolen from a visitor spot. A neighbor saw it and called the police, and nothing ever became of it even thought they caught the kid. The list goes on and on. The problem isn't so much with the people in this complex, so much as the mobile home park on the other side of the fence, and the ghetto apartments on the other side of 205th. Once they installed security cameras, all the problems migrated to our complex.

When we moved in, before we put our first box in here, wew were infested with fleas (and we didn't have any animals yet). The people before us had animals, but when they replaced the carpet, they didn't replace the pad (where fleas lay eggs...) So withing a week of beinig here we were being eaten alive. I took them another week and a half to get someone in here to spary. I've been calling about the ants the whole time I've lived here, and they've never done anything about that. Two of my burners on my oven have never worked. They replaced them 4 times in the first month of living here, finally I just gave up. How often do I need 4 burners at once' The back door has a serious draft from under it, and the living room window leaks on the very top when it rains hard. These were only built in the late 80's or early 90's I believe. They're not that old.

Almost done...

We are right under the flight path to PDX and there are trains pretty close. (You pretty much just learn to drown them out.)

They cannot seem to get a manager or assistant manager in here to stay to save their lives. And everytime there is a turnover, nobody ever lets us know they're leaving. And the current manager is the only one that let us know she was even here. Beyond that my only other real issue is dust. I have no idea where it comes from. I've lived in lots of other places, and never had dust like this. I don't get it. I have never seen a place get so dusty so fast. I'm a clean person, but it was more than concerning when I pulled open my computer the other day and the processors were CAKED in dust. I have to clean it out every couple of weeks. Before I moved in here, I only had to clean it out every couple of months.

Bottom line, if you have the money to move into this place at when rent is going for now, you can find bigger houses in Fairview for less. I'm not joking, I'm in the process of looking. The management is okay depending on what day of the week it is. Sometimes it's fantastic. Other days it's dreadful. And they certainly won't remember you from one day to the next. I've walked into the office, and they think I'm a new person looking to rent. I've lived here a year and a half, but I guess when you can't keep a manager for more than 6 months at a time, that will happen.....

I wouldn't move back in here.
