Long term residency has its disadvantages

Parking is tight and some vehicles in assigned spaces have been ripped off of car stereos and other items. Security has improved in the past 3 years so this is not as much of a problem as it once was. Night noise has decreased and if there is a problem, you can call and they will send security. Landscaping is upkept and done well. Views are excellent. Outdoor trim and siding is being replaced and repainted currently. Outdoor lighting can be dim and has needed replacement in some areas for quite a while now. Construction is mediocre. Floors squeak and showers squeak worse, and you can hear water pressure in adjoining apartments when someone showers. If a stereo is too loud and your neighbor won't turn it down at your request, the office will call for you. Some appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers), fixtures and carpeting are old and need replacement in units occupied for a while and longer-term renters have to live with the old stuff which gets replaced for new tenants. Fireplaces were all cleaned 2 years ago. As the percentage of apartments rented (and not empty) increases, tenants who have been here for years are faced with having paid much higher deposits than newbies, along with rent increases at the end of the lease, so they are paying the same as someone moving in, even if rent has been paid on time for years, which doesn't seem fair, as the apartments are much more worn out and have been since the move-in, than they are for someone moving in now. Maintenance staff for inside apartments are overworked and there is more time between calling them and getting serviced than there used to be. Pet rent has increased and dog breed restrictions have appeared over the past two years. Cable is included but has increased due to Comcast increasing what they charge the apartments. Manager turnover three times in past five years. Office and clubhouse and exercise room in clubhouse are often closed when posted signs say they are open. For office staff, Melissa is extremely helpful.
