I lived at Alpine Meadows I from 2002 to 2004. When we moved in I was so happy and things were great, the apartment was nice (although the living room was small), the grounds were kept up, the office staff was friendly and willing to work with us during some hard times, overall it was great. In Jan of 2003 my car was broken into and my CD player as well as some personal belongings were stolen, and then again in May 2003 my car was not only broken into but they tried to steal it (with the baby seat in it) causing over $2,000 damage. I understand that this is not the fault of the apartments as this can happen anywhere however, when I talked to management about it they didn't seem intrested. I started talking to my neighbors and warning them since management didn't even want to inform residents on how to protect themselves. And then right before we moved we heard glass breaking in the middle of the night and called the police. When they showed up we found that one of the residents tried to break into another apartment and when the resident of that apartment ran out to find out what was going on he was confronted at gun point. Because we made the initial call the police came to talk to us and after that we received several threats from one of the parties involved. Management did nothing until we said we were moving at that point they kicked out BOTH of the parties (the one party did nothing though). I was fearful enough that I refused to stay there at night anymore.

I would have to say that your blaming the staff is extremely misplaced. Have you looked at what is offered in the various areas of Portland, etc? You talk about crime!!! The staff is under a lot of rules and regulations put on them by the governments that exist today. Maybe they know something that you don't know...what they can and can't do. You may have had some legit issues, but those issues are the respondsibilty of the police force/government. PS...the small living room is not the respondsibilty of staff members. Think about it...who designed and built the place? Guaranteed it wasn't the staff. You did see the place before you rented, didn't you?

I 100 percent agree with this review. My girlfriend and I have lived here for about 15 months, and her car was broken into, then stolen. She reported both with the management, but all they said was that she should invest in an alarm, as they didn't want to raise rent to have some sort of security. 2 months later, they raised our rent...for what??? To re-pave the parking lot. Not only that, but 2 friends of ours who also lives in the complex (different apartments) have had their car windows shattered and belongings stolen. They were told the same thing my girlfriend was told. Did I mention the fact that a few months ago there were 7 cars with all 4 tires slashed? Again, appearantly not a concern for the property management. Bottom line, find somewhere else to live!!!
