I lived in Holly Ridge for 3 1/2 years, in the N building. I previously left a middle of the road review, and now I'm saying good things. Roach problem, never saw one. Roaches are mostly who lives NEXT to you bringing them in, and I'm sure they'll take care of it soon. I did see some little beetles but they were not roaches, and they came from the trees when it rained.

I moved out in March to my first house, and cleaned well,not spectacularly, just about how I found it. I left a few things un-fixed, and there were normal stains on carpet from almost 4 years of living there. I got almost half my deposit back, when I wasn't expecting any, since I only had to deposit $200, and got $79 back! From what I understand it's hard to get any deposit back. They never invaded my privacy or bothered me.

A lot of the problems people mention on here are because of their NEIGHBORS which will follow them to every apartment, neighbors suck, you can't control what kind of trash lives next to you in an apartment, just doesn't work. That's why I bought a house when the prices dropped. If you can swing it, do it! My mortgage is only $300 more than my rent was, after taxes and insurance and even mortgage insurance. It is a different world from living in apartments, with noise and little privacy. I'm still close to Powell but can't hear it at all!
This was my 1st apartment, but from hearing friend's horror stories, it is pretty good. They are NOT slum lords, and they do their best to take care of problems that may arise. Compared to other apartments, I think this is a nice one. My main complaint was they didn't take care of the snow in the parking lot, but I drove by other complexes, and very few of them did either, our city just isn't equipped for that kind of storm! Anyway, people will find things to complain about anywhere. I never had problems with the staff. Just state your case, they'll deal with it. Don't get rude with them, it makes people get defensive.
