Yo!

Nuisance !! Beware !!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006

Here is the scenario - your aprtment floods badly (laundry, kitchen, dining, entry way closet in a B1 plan) because a pipe burst open while repairing the adajcent vacant unit, and your spouse and a 3 year old kid had to stay out of the aprtment during the day because the maintenance people are running 3 fans and one dehumidifer that are very noisy (kinda like a factory) and theose fans are lying on the floor hee and there, the maintenance folkds tell you to leave them all running nonstop for the next 2 - 3 days until the carpets and flooring get dry.

Well, this is what happened to us today (11/30/2006). So I talk to the manager about options. She and her staff start explaining to me what happened and what they are doing etc. etc. etc. I already knew about these from my wife. So I tell her so and ask her how she can expect us to live in the apartment under those conditions until things dry up. And she says it should be no problem and the place is inabitable. And she doesn't want to come to the aprtment to see for herself how loud it is - she is too busy. As well her other staff. She can send maintenance people.

So the only option she gave was for us to continue as if nothing had happened. After arguing some more, she said we will remove the fans that are in the way, but leave a quieter dehumidifer on during the night and reevaluate in the morning, the situation and then weigh her options for us. On top of this, she says that because we made them remove the fans, we would be responsible for any damanages to the flooring/carpet eventhough we didn't cause the accident. Does she think we are idiots' That is totally unacceptable. All I wanted was for her to relocate us until things got normal in our aprtment. We couldn't cook, had to waste so much of our time, had to stay out for several hours, endure jarring noise, etc. etc. and she wants to hold us responsible for any damanages' Is she going to pay for our additional expenses for food, for electricity ' She says she wants to take care of us because we are residents, well all I was asking for was relocate for 2-3 days, I had no problem with them running all their fancy gadgets. I would pick up the additional costs to me. But no, they don't want to do that.

For paying $1015.00 a month in rent, this is what we get here. I would be interested in what people think of this experience and what they would have expected from management.
