I've stayed at this complex twice now for short terms in corporate housing. Both times upon moving out there were magically many things wrong with the apartment that was missed on the walk through. The most recent time they are claiming "their cleaners" found damage to the carpet and I have to pay for it....a month after I'm gone! No proof, no nothing. The old carpet was so old they felt it in their tiny little hearts to prorate the price down to about 15% of the replacement cost....hmm, if the carpet was that old it was time to replace it anyways. Screw Cortland, you have been warned!!!!

If you thought the carpet was shabby to begin with... you should have noted it on your walk through. Suck it up buddy...take some responsability. Are we 10 years old?

I agree with badboy. My husband and I noticed some spots on the kitchen floor and a few little spots on the carpet that we did not notice on our walk through. (oh no people have lived here before!?) I am entirely sure we are going to have to pay for it but in no way am i going to blame Cortland for us not paying attention. Next time we find a place we are going to be more careful in things like this. Also - you should never get an apartment and expect your deposit back. any pet fees and deposits go for upgraded materials for the next owners. I don't see any reason why they should give ours back. the carpet needs to be replaced after having a cat in here, and I'm sure the money is going to go to that so the next users are happy with their stay.
they need money to keep going, and anywhere else is going to treat you just the same if not worse.
