Misrepresenting upgrades

Be wary of their advertisements qualifying the upgrades available: stainless appliances are NOT true stainless. Look up Hotpoint on the web: their products are stainless look-alikes. Granite countertops mean granite tiles not slabs--the cheaper version with grout lines. Also, be aware that these units have no air conditioning and that the windows require a specific kind of unit; read that as more expensive--the ones that open vertically, not horizontally due to the window construction. Our apartment is at least 85-90 degrees on a sunny day!!! Be aware of what you are paying for and note that the maintenance dept. is stretched very thin around here....urgency is not part of their vocabulary. Nor do they respond to tenant grievances. Know what you are getting into. The best thing about Cortland Village is it's central location--that's about it. Oh and be aware of where your unit is located. Anything close to 229th or Butler and you may as well be living next to a freeway--the street and air traffic noise is maddening at night!

There is nothing "Misrepresenting" about the upgrade. I toured the apartment before I moved in and you would have to be blind to not notice that the granite isn't a slab. Anyway, it's cheaper to replace... so if you had a mishap they can't charge you for the entire slab, just one tile, which is much cheaper. Also, I have no problem keeping my apartment cool during the day. I open up my windows at night, use a box fan in the early morning, and close the windows before I leave for work and it keeps cool all day. You should have known it didn't have air conditioning before moving in. Oregon doesn't get that hot anyway, and if you're worried about the heat during the day, GO OUT AND GET A JOB AND STOP WHINING! As for the noise, I live on 229th and it's not that bad. Obviously apartment living isn't for you. I used to live right off Highway 26 and I could see the traffic from my apartment. This is TONS quieter than living on the highway. Anything that is centrally located comes with a bit of city noise. If you don't want city noise, go buy a house in the country. (oh yeah you can't afford it because you don't have a job and you sit at home complaining about the heat). I moved into Cortland village on June 1 and I am very happy with the upgraded apartment. After looking at tons of apartments this was the nicest I could find, by far.

To the first response: aren't we feisty... Not everyone living in an apartment can't not afford a house. Some live in apartments due to job relocations, retirement, going to school, and checking out an area before deciding to buy there, just to name a few reasons. Living in an apartment does not automatically label someone as a loser living on the dole, ya know. When doing job relocations, someone might not get to tour the apartment before renting (always a risky proposition, but it does happen), so they have to go by the pictures, which do show a granite slab in the kitchen, not tiles. Regarding the noise: it is just a heads-up for other people considering living there. And yes, what's noisy for one person might not bother another, but that's the point of these reviews, so others can get a complete picture. When we had lived there, we did find the insulation terrible (lots of heat loss in the winter), but we did find it relatively easy to keep cool. However, this will depend on which building you're in, and if you're able to open the windows at night (not advisable if you're on the ground level, this is not a crime-free city). I thought this was a very fairly written review, no ranting and name-calling, unlike your response.
