Mice, decaying birds and fire hazards galore!

So unfortunately I have been here MUCH longer than anticipated. At first it didn't seem bad the apartments look nice, and the staff is usually friendly. But then things started to happen. It took them almost a month to clean my backed up sink. There are dead birds on the ground that have been there so long they have become part of the ground. The driers are a fire hazard because the exhaust tubes are so full of lint that the drier takes 2-3cycles to dry, and per maintenance, they know but the ----- won't let them fix it. They magically upped my rent 4 months into my lease and then threatened me with an eviction notice for not paying the difference ($15). And the final straw.... The mouse I found my indoor only cat playing with in the living room when I got home from work (and no my place is by filthy)... They don't care about their tenants. Stay far far away from this place ( you know it's bad when on a daily basis I long for my old complex that had problems with black mold and was affecting my asthma. You can find much nicer for the price elsewhere!!!

I have a very hard time believing that the rent was raised while you where locked into a lease!?!?!?
The staff is NOT usually freindly, ------- is the rudest person in the office, she always acts like you are bothering her with any question that you have!!!
It is hit and miss with the maintenance department. Sometimes they come right away and other times it can be weeks.
I haven't seen any dead birds or mice any where and I have lived here for over a year. I actuallt think the grounds are really nice and I really like the new paint.
All and all not a bad place to live just don't EVER be late on your water bill!!!!! They will honestly post a 30 day eviction notice on your door for being 1 day late, that is not a lie!!!!!

Oh where to begin! They are a maintenance Nightmare! And I agree, ------- is the rudest person in the office, hands down. She is lazy, fake, and any contact with her that lasts longer than one minute usually results in an eye roll, or an urgency to get you off the phone. I can attest to the fire hazard issue regarding the laundry driers in the unit. When I moved in, I notified the office staff that it took at least two drier cycles to fully dry a load of clothing within the first two weeks of move-in. I was told that they outsourced the maintenance to a private company, and that my building was scheduled for updates. After a month with no updates, I made another request. I was then told that the Cortland maintenance team was in the process of getting equipment to begin doing the repairs. I was continually put off. Needless to say, running a drier cycle two times for each load gets rather costly. My average electricity bill ranged from $90-$140 per month as result. I was also encourged to "make an appointment for repairs." After five months of waiting, and being put off, imagine my delight when I was awakened one morning after "making an appointment," with pounding on my door in the middle of my sleep cycle (I work nights so this was very disruptive). To the manager's credit after explaining my frusteration I was offered a rental credit to reimburse the five months that I overpaid for running double laundry loads. Other areas of concern have to do with personal safety and security. I had another resident threaten me in front of my apartment. This happened after-hours. When I notified the office and gave a description of the vehicle and parking space number, I was told I should have filed a police report, advised to park my car on the other side of the complex to avoid further confrontation, and told that it would be a good idea to leave a note on the other residents car to try and make amends. I was told by office staff that they "don't have the time to look into these matters, and pull up parking space numbers."
The office staff also put one of my signed checks with my signature with all of my personal bank account information on my door that I had used to pay for rent, along with my fiance's signed check with his personal bank account information with a note stating they don't accept third party checks. Since my fiance lives and works on the other side of the state and was not on the rental agreement, they would not accept rent money from him. When I offered the suggestion that it was a personal identity safety concern with having my check posted on the outside of my front door, office staff seemed to not think this was a problem. I requested that they call me with any future problems with my payments to avoid the same problem, and I was told by office staff that they "dont normally do that."
All in all I would not recommend living here.
