OK if you are a sound sleeper (and the guy upstairs doesn't have a small bladder).

I had moved out of Hampshire Downs when I bought a house. IĀm selling my house and moving back into an apartment but not at HD.
I read another review that stated HD was expensive. The reviewer was from Kansas and obviously not accustomed to the expense of the Silicon Forest. HD was in my opinion the best value for the money at the time. (They pay for basic cable, which I haven't found anywhere else doing.) At the time, the Intel Jones Farm campus (across the street) was about half the size it is now and HD had recently finished their second phase, with a lot of vacancies (the apartment upstairs was vacant for several months after I moved in). Now that I'm in the market for a new apartment, I find HD to be comparable to other apartments complexes in close proximity to Intel campuses. Nothing special here.
The complex was well maintained. The staff were incredible and a pleasure to deal with.
The only noise complaints I had were with the tenant above me who woke to use the toilet at 2 am every morning. The flushing would wake me. Talking to him and asking him to wait to flush the toilet until after 6 am worked - for about 2 weeks. The problem stems from having different floorplans on each story. I was on the second story and third story bathroom sewer pipe was in the wall between my livingroom and bedroom. When the toilet was flushed upstairs, it sounded like Niagra Falls running in the wall! This is the major reason I'm looking elsewhere.
There was also one time that a new tenant below was having a party that went a little too late (loud music and loud voices on the patio at 3 am on a week night). I stuck my head out the back door and asked them to tone it down. They were very apologetic and I had no more problems with them. I prefer to handle these types of complaints myself but HD recommends that you call their security to handle noise complaints.
HD has carports for parking (included in rent in phase 2, $15 extra in phase 1) as well as open areas. There are also on site garages that you can rent for an extra $60/month.
HD also allows up to 2 pets. The staff love for the pets to come visit them. The deposits for pets are 200 to 300 depending on the type of pet you have.
