Orenco Gardens was a decent place to live until the new management came in. The office staff have no professional courtesy whatsoever. We came in to pay our rent and ask a question and waited 20 minutes for the girl to finish her conversation with a friend. We were standing right in front of her and she looked up only to continue talking. It was extremely unprofessional. She had no interest in performing quality customer service. I would have been understanding if she would have acknowledged us with a, "Hold on for one moment," but she didn't.
Also, we had referred a friend to live here before the new management came in. He paid his rent check to the girl (same one that we paid) a day late and she snapped at him and threw his check in her desk. The next day, he got a note on the door to "Pay your month's rent, or get out." The girl had lost his check.
And, despite the free internet, it sucks. Sure, they have a T1 connection, but you share the bandwidth with 200 other apartments, so your connection speed is comparable to dial-up, if even that. Plus, the IT support were not very helpful when our connection went down, insisting it was our problem, not the network we were using. We were without internet for a week when finally, my husband called their customer service line (after talking to the IT support guy everyday). The customer service guy came in and found that the wiring to our apartment was bad and fixed it for us.
Lastly, but definitely not least, there was another incident where the maintanence guys left out cleaning agents and ladders in the stairways, unattended, all day long. I have a toddler and the last thing I need is to be walking with my child down the stairs and having her trip over a ladder or spill chemicals within her reach. Totally unsafe.
I don't recommend living here anymore, the Norris and Steven's staff were much more friendlier and happy to help the residents. Plus, the rent is a little high and the lease is too long. Don't bother. Just because the place is newly built doesn't mean the staff resembles its quality.
