We moved in in November and regretfully signed a one year lease. The daily traffic to Portland is unbearable.

That being said, we like our apartment. Most of the staff are polite, professional, and friendly, however one manager has a bit of an attitude. There were a couple of minor issues with our apartment that were fixed immediately. The grounds are kept up nicely, too bad some of the residents don't pick up after their dogs. We've tracked dog mess more than once getting in and out of our cars. There isn't any excuse as there are dog waste stations all over (We have a dog). Trash overflows the dumptsers on Saturdays and Sundays. Great recycle bins/recycling friendly!

The area is clean and VERY quiet and its rare that we ever hear or even see our neighbors. We are on the third floor so that might make a difference. The MAX line is right across the road but never wakes us up. Very convenient.

We are disappointed with the fitness equipment. Its satisfactory and works but we would appreciate quality elliptical trainers. The one's they have are mediocre at best and not designed well. The fitness center is convenient however. Its rare that there are any more than 2 people in the workout room at any given time so that is never an issue.

The Club House is nice and well kept, some movies are available for borrowing (Netflix is the best option) and the staff is always available to accept package deliveries for its residents. Internet is available for residents, there is coffee in the mornings and snacks on the weekends. It actually feels like the lobby of a hotel (complete with brochures).

Shower heads are terrible, low pressure, we bought our own to resolve that issue. Water heaters could be larger, really hot baths are a luxury we haven't experienced here. Oh, and the fans in the bathrooms are noisy and bothersome. They go on and off on their own depending on which switch you use. Bizarre. Just keep both switches off when you exit.

We really like our apartment (3rd floor). Its great for entertaining and we would recommend having your dining room and one bedroom wall painted. It really "makes" the apartment and you don't feel jipped after you see the beautiful model.

The fireplaces make for great party conversation. Just what the hell are they really' Its more like having "the fire channel". Flip a switch, flames appear, heat blows out, but..are there really flames or is it some kind of projection' Stare long enough and there seems to be a pattern. Stare too long and it seems you have no life. Ha. Obviously fake but nice effect, regardless.

The drive to Portland totally sucks if you leave any time between 6:45 and 8:30 in the morning. The drive can be a long as an hour and fifteen minutes. Leave at 8:30 and you will arrive at the same time. Take the max and a good book and you'll help the environment as well as lower your blood pressure.

We like Orenco Gardens Apartments. It's clean, sculpted, and new. Orenco Station has a wonderful New Seasons Market, Starbucks, and the Orenco Bar and Grill makes a great Bloody Mary. Just make DARN sure you can handle the drive to Portland before you consider living here.
