Greedy Management

The apartments are about 12-14 years old (call them and ask them). The interior is not that great with no sound proofing. When I stayed there I could always hear my male neighbour upstairs abusing his wife/girlfriend. I think this is very common issue with apartments- you will rarely find apartments that are sound proofed properly. The outdoor has some nice trees and greens but the play area for kids is run down (go see it if you go to rent this place). Covered parking has to be paid for or you can try and find an open spot which is free.
Worst of all the management at this place gets greedy the longer you stay there. For the first year I was there I was told that I would have to pay no move-in cost and they will throw in a washer and dryer for free! The next year when the lease came up for renewal they told me that they would have to jack up my rent additional $100/month and they would have to charge me $40/month for the washer and dryer or I would have to return the washer and dryer. I think part of it was my mistake too as I waited till the last minute to tell them that I would continue staying there. They saw a good chance for kill and went for it. The next year I was wiser and I approached them sooner to see how much extra they would charge me if I renewed my lease. So they got wiser too and said they would give me a big discount if I stayed and would only increase my rent by $20/month. Big discount they had more then made up for it in the previous rent increase. I stayed. However, it wasn't over yet as far as they were concerned.
When I finally moved out they got me again. On the move out date they told me they could not do a final walk through till about 4PM and finally showed up at 4:55PM and told me that they had to do a QUICK walkthrough as they had to close the office. They did the quick walkthrough and said everything was reasonable except where there some burn mark on the kitchen counter. They said that it would could them about $180 /- few dollars for labor and material to replace and fix that. I said I will pay for that. We signed the parting paperwork and parted. About 2 weeks later they sent me a bill for $450 with addendum to my paperwork that the management and I had signed upon parting. Once the walkthrough is over and both parties have agreed to what is wrong then you can't go in at a later point in time and make additional changes to walkthrough documents and say you owe more. This is precisely what they did. The additional charges included items like $20 to pick up a rubber band in bathroom closet drawer, $20 to cover a hole in the wall where my painting hung (I would think this would be normal wear and tear and I should not charged for it- this is not damage). Out of this $450 I agreed to pay about $250 but they were unrelenting and sent my account to collection.
I guess they made up for $0 move-in special they gave me at the start of lease. If you don't pay upfront you will pay in the end.
Management here is greedy- beware and be cautious if you decide to stay here.

I'm confused! This writer states that they did a monthly charge for the washer and dryer. As far as I know, we have provided washer and dryers free for years. Also, we NEVER have offered free move in costs, so I'm not sure you wrote this review about the right community! Plus, I have not sent anyone to collection since I started managing there, as long as they contacted me about their billing. We have always been willing to work with our residents to ensure that everybody comes out satisfied!

The last two o three bad reviews are obviously from the same disgruntled person who is clueless and even sounds like a competitor ! I have lived at the commons at Dawson Creek and I enjoyed it so much that I almost sold my home to move back in. I have never seen the manger eat popcorn and what kind of crazy f*** notices a mundane detail like what a manager eats, plus the personal attack on someone being fat? Disregard these negative reviews. Did it occur to the O.C.D. S.O.B. who monitors what people eat, that the Manager may have been pregnant? find out for yourself , but be fair really find out instead of listening to this B.S.
