Quickie remodel is just a facade. Paint peeling, moisture problems, and lots of bugs. The water tastes awful.
Management is mostly twenty-somethings, with plenty of attitude and limited experience.
The apartment was filthy when I moved in (lots of construction dust and debris).
There is no pad under the carpeting (and they didn't bother to vacuum), so you can feel all the construction debris when you walk around barefoot. There are gaps in all the corners, where the carpet and linoleum weren't properly measured before installation. I assume that's where the bugs gain access. Plenty of cats running around outside, which helps keep the mice in check.
The baseboard heaters and stacked washer dryers are very inefficient: my electric bill averaged $90/month even with the thermostats set on 55 degrees (and using a laundrymat to avoid the mini-loads).
Noisy, more cars than parking spaces, and they use a proprietary billing system for water/trash/sewer which averages your consumption with everybody else in your building: no bonus points for conservation or recycling.
