The Gables looks nice, but as another reviewer mentioned, it is all smoke and mirrors. The grounds are beautiful and the location is great, however, the rest is downhill. The kitchen and bathrooms are not updated--all appliances are old! Upon moving in, everything looks clean and tidy but then things start to break. The apartments really need to be remodeled. I've had many problems with numerous leaks, ant infestations, broken toilets (yes, repeatedly), small doorknobs breaking, closets not closing efficiently, washer off kilter (twice), a stove that keeps breaking, and cracking walls, which leave gross rusty debris. The maintenance staff repairs things fairly quickly, however, watch out because it is done as cheap as possible and is likely to break again. Many tenants here do not clean up after their dogs and little can be done to enforce the rule--watch where you step on the pathways! There are a few messy people who repeatedly leave fast food bags and items strewn about the street--ughh! If you do not have a carport then forget about parking after 5:30 p.m. The walls are pretty thin and lots of noise comes through--but hey, that's apartment life. I wouldn't recommend living here unless you are desperate. It's not horrible but it is far from great. Oh, and if you have children stay away unless you are desperate. The children here--God bless their hearts--are often coming from less than ideal situations and have problems. We've heard some pretty sad domestic violence at times. I see police cars here at least once a month. Once a policeman knocked on my door to gather info regarding a missing person's report. And another time I saw a drug addict fleeing the scene. There is also a prankster who has been placing screws under residents' tires at night and this has caused three known flats. If you like a clean car then reserve a garage because people's outdoor cats love sleeping on your freshly washed car and sometimes they leave furballs. In the summer, watch out for the killer spiders and beetles running around here--very scary! The rent here is way too much for what you get.
