Good and Bad Qualities

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2006
I lived there for over 4 years and watched the property go from excellent to mediocre. Management can only do so much - the OWNER needs to invest in the interiors and the grounds. Since it was built, they have added garages (not a priority, as there is ample parking) and painted the exterior garish colors. The apartments are in need of major updating and renovating - carpets are dirty, kitchens are very 80's, electric heat can run you up to $180 a month due to the fact that there is no insulation and windows are so shoddy that you can actually feel the cold wind blowing through the thin glass - even when they are closed! And in the summer, with no a/c, you'd think the pool would be a nice option, but it becomes the "park district" pool used by ALL the kids in the neighborhood (not just the complex) - moms, babies, teens (late nights and weekends), etc. Good luck trying to find a quiet place to sit, chair or swimming in a pool filled with 200 people. The grounds at the entrance are kept up, but that's about it. It's mostly mud and soggy grass 8 months out of the year. Lots of spiders and -------- "mowing" non-existent grass and blowing dust everywhere with their leaf-blowers during the spring and summer (again, this stuff comes right into your apartment because of the cheap windows). They are pet-friendly, but need to enforce restrictions. I ran into all sorts of vicious dogs while walking my dog and barely avoided being attacked a number of times. Dogs are supposed to be on-leash, but cats are allowed to roam freely - and they do. If you don't expect much, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, keep looking...
