I've lived in what once was Kellogg Lake Apartments that is now the less than improved Miramonte Lodge for almost 2 years. The first year was fabulous, I had quiet neighbors and the rent was reasonable and then the second newest property management came in and it has been HORRIBLE. They've raised the rent by 20% and now we are being forced to pay for H20, garabge and sewer. I have had small problems that were always a pain to solve like a leaky faucet that has never been fixed completely. Or the neighbors that now surround me and hotbox my apartment with cigarette smoke and they can't help me but will they help me when I have lung cancer from the second hand smoke I've inhaled over the last year'

There are non smoking apartments all over Portland for whiners like you. When you make a maintenance request, be sure to do it in writing. All apartment management knows they can ignore any request that isn't, and are exempt from fixing it by law. On the other hand, they are obligated, unless they want legal action against them. By the way, its much more likely you'd get lung cancer from your carpet, in any apartment complex than any second hand smoke. There are at least 1000 air born contaminates which are both more concentrated and lethal than cigarette smoke, all of which the Oregon Department of Human Resources helps profiteers hide by focusing on cigarette smoke.
