There are good and bad in everything and certainly it applies at Miramonte Lodge, formally Kellogg Lake apartments. I am a VERY HONEST and upfront person so Im hoping this review will help you, the renter, make a good decision about this complex. I will tell it to you straight, unbiased and fair. I will first begin with the pros and then the cons and you must decide if the cons are not worth your time staying here. For me, the bad things outweight the advantages and thus, I will not go back, nor do I recommend to others. Anyway here goes; the good things. The grounds are just beautiful and well taken care of, the apartments are clean, and kept up. There is a nice pool and a very nice, small gym which has everything needed for a fair workout. If your looking for free weights, no dice. The management is on the grounds everyday, which is great. If there is an issue, they are there to listen and help. Regarding the staff, the two young ladies in the office are FANTASTIC! They are friendly, know your name and dog and thats nice. I never had an issue with either of them. The maintenence manager is the BEST! FIRST RATE, ALL THE WAY. Very friendly and helpful and his staff are good as well.
Since another reviewer brought up the parking, I will as well. The parking is fine. The spaces are small but they are there as opposed to other complexes that charge for a parking space or worse, find your own on the street. I commend them for this.
The actual apartments are kind of small and dark but they are still quite nice. A really nice thing they have at Miramonte is a nice dog park so if you have a dog, its great. Plenty for the dogs to run and play.
Basically that is all the good things. Now the bad things. One, the price of the apartments are high as opposed to the area. Also dont expect the price to remain the same for very long. From what i understand from other tenants it goes up all the time. I was talking to a guy who was a tenant in thier studio apartment and he told me that he was moving out right away and that he found other apartments just as nice, for a lot less, not far away. This is what he told me, I did not check this out to confirm.
The second problem, and this one is a MAJOR problem is the noise. The walls in the apartments are soooooo thin you can hear EVERYTHING in your neighbors apartment. Every morning I can hear my neighbors, heater going on and off, the cupboards slamming, my neighbors talking on the phone, music, the tv, the shower and I even heard my next door neighbor walk from room to room, all day long. So its safe to say, if you dont like noise, your in trouble here!
Regarding the tenants, its generally a young crowd so take it the way you like. I was really worried about parties but the few months I was there, no parties BUT there were many drunken young people in the parking lot area. Also generally speaking, a lot of the tenants are not friendly and quite rude. I had several problems with, loud neighbors blasting music in thier cars late at night, one tenant actually left his used beer bottles outside my door, and the worst thing, my new neighbors started hammering pictures at 10pm to midnight when they first moved in. What nerve!
The final thing, and this really bothered me was the new apartment manager. I have seen in another review that the new manager said in a rebuttal that she takes care of things, just bring it to her and give her a chance. I had a problem with my final move out refund where the complex took too much out of my check. I emailed her the problem and she said she would take care of it but after giving me an excuse, she refused to take care of it. I showed proof that the complex overbilled me for days not at the apartment anymore but she refused to give me an answer back. I emailed her three times with no response back. Is this what a manager should do' I dont think so! Dont expect to get your full refund back, as another tenant below has reported in another review. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Just in a side note, I contacted the main office (Holland Residential Properties) regarding this issue on my final move out check and a few other problems and THEY DID take care of this issue, and did it fast. I do appreciate thier work to handle this issue for me.
So in the long run you must decide is the peace and quiet important to you or not, or is the price of the apartment for what you get important or not and especially can you afford the fees and penelties that may await you. By the way, you pay all utilities, nothing is covered. In my opinion, they are not worth it.
