The Newell Creek Village Apartments have approx. 125 units and in a beautiful wooded setting. They were built in 1997 or 1998 and are very nice looking on the outside and the inside. These are the positive points. All apts. have energy efficient appliances and double paned storm windows. My electric bill has always been very low compared to older places I have lived in. These apartments were built very quickly and many corners were cut though. There is no carpet pad underneath the carpet and the floors are hard as a rock with very inexpensive, thin carpet. The insulation/soundproofing is non-existance. I live on the top floor and can hear everything from the apts. below, behind and beside me. I can even hear people walk underneath me. I have lived here for 4 1/2 years and am finally moving. I have never wanted to move out of a place so badly. I have nothing against kids, but this place has too many...most all have no supervision and it is very noisy. Kids run up and down the stairwell and drag their scooters down the stairs. Many times you must walk off of the sidewalk to go around all the kids on their scooters, bikes and skateboards. There is alot of partying here in the summer months. This last week 2 apartments were broken into. I have had many drug addicted neighbors and have not felt safe at many times during my stay here. Even the managers that we have had eventually quit. I have lost count as to how many managers we have gone through here. Right now we have no manager at all. Many of the apartments are vacant now. This is where the missing girls that were murdered lived. Alot of people moved during and after that and people are still moving. This is a Section 8/Section 42 apartment complex and it shows. Many tenants leave their garbage out on their decks or porches. The trash compactor area is filthy with garbage, cat litter box remains on the cement and dirty discarded mattresses and couches that have been there for months. It smells very bad. I always have kept my living enviroment clean and have been appalled at the way some of the tenants here live. I am on disability and have saved what little I have so that I can move out of here. I would not recommend Newell Creek to my worst enemy. It has been one long nightmare for me here and I'll be glad when its over.
