I've lived here about six months now. Although some of the architectural features in the apartments are from the late 50's/early 60's era, I find it quite charming. However, there are parts of my apartment, namely the bland egg shell color that it was painted just before I moved in. The carpet is atrocious! 15-20 years ago (I can tell by the type of carpet used) the mgt at that time covered up beautiful parquet wood flooring (real stuff, not the cheap Pergo man-made parquet laminate tiles) in each unit. The mgt now seems to be reversing that long-term trend. I've seen the mgt here strip the apt of its carpet and re-sand the original parquet overlay (it's on top of the concrete substrate). Nice job. Maybe I can convince them to do the same to mine.
The rents are in line with the area (Uptown or Goose Hollow is what that area is most commonly referred to). Mgt is good at working with you about most anything you'd like to do to your apt (i.e. painting it your own colors). The apartments are fairly soundproof and safe. Great neighbors. Great management staff! There's three or four sweet older ladies and one nice gopher boy that keep the office running. All nice folks. The property has a wonderful rooftop deck, a business center (repleat with coffee during business hours!), a laundry (see below comment about the laundry), and a fitness center. Downside: the elevators are slow; you may wait on an elevator for up to five minutes during rush hours. The freight elevator (the third elevator) is also slow (when it is working or not taken by people moving in/out). Laundry room is busy even on days when you don't think it will be busy. No laundry connections in the apartments. Have to go all the way to the second floor to do laundry. Storage is of normal size and is easily accessible. Make sure you lock up your property in storage! And, make sure you keep your eye on your laundry. Someone stole a pair of my sweatpants out of the dryer one day. If they had only known where those sweatpants had been -- ha-ha-ha!
