Now, where do I begin about 735 St.

Clair?

#1 we've been promised a new rooftop deck for several years.

It is falling apart and a definite hazard.

And, the roof smells like a sewer in the summer.

#2 we've been promised new washers and dryers for several years.

The current laundry facilities are not clean and the washers don't clean the clothes.

#3 they promise us security.

There was 24 hr security when we moved here.

Now there is nothing and anyone can get into the building if they want.

#4 the manager, Kenee, is such a sweet woman when you first meet her.

But, once she gains your trust, she will stab you in the back and talk to other residents about you.

#5 when the power in the neighborhood goes out (at least 2 times a year) residents are forced to stay in their apartments or walk up and down the 25 stories of this building.

Residents have been begging for backup power for at least one elevator in case of emergency for decades.

#6 if there is an issue with nose from a neighbor, management will make little effort to eliminate the problem and provide you with no alternatives (like moving to another apartment in the building).

In the years we have been here, there have been more restrictions and higher rents, while the management/owner(Bowen) provides less and less with sub-standard facilities.

We are told this building is a "cash cow" for Bowen and he is reluctant to make any improvements to the building and facilities unless he is forced to.

If you wish to live in downtown Portland, there are many more better places to live.

I live here now and couldn't agree more with you- and you didn't even hit on all the problems that they have with pets. They advertise that they are pet friendly-however that is the biggest joke I have ever heard. They are pet friendly if you are in your 50s......I am so done with this place, they suck the life out of you with all the rules and regulations. I feel like I am 5 again.

#1. Since this person posted their whiny review there is in fact a new rooftop deck. #2 the laundry room could use new appliances, but they are all in working order and are still just $1 a load. #3 there is security via locked entrances with key cards. Not sure what their complaint is on this. It's not a 24/7 staffed place, if it were rents would be twice the amount charged. If you need that, live in the Pearl or S. Waterfront. #4 I can't believe you would stab Kenee in the back like this by posting anonymously. Seems to me like this person is the backstabber. #5 Get real. This building was built in the 1960's. You expect backup generators? I've lived here over three years and the power has been out twice for short periods. Sounds like you need to live in a place without stairs. #6 I had a complaint about noise from an upstairs neighbor and it was addressed with force very promptly. Maybe this person complained about minor noises instead of major ones? Rarely do I ever hear anything from a neighbor. Finally, if you wish to live in downtown Portland, this might be a "cash cow" for Bowen, but I've visited all the places in the Pearl and South waterfront -- worse views, rents twice as high, and not much in terms of amenities! Go figure.
