I lived at Altamont when they were relatively new and for the price it seemed a great deal for such lovely grounds and spacious accomodations (I lived in a two bedroom). I thought because we were surrouded by million dollar homes that we would be relatively safe. First, there was a leak in the upstairs plumbing that caused my closet ceiling to leak water. That was repaired relatively promptly. About 6 months later my car was broken into. Two weeks later I saw 3 other cars with broken windows. When I first moved in there were several families living there, but as the months progressed and crime went up, families moved out and young adults who loved to party moved in. Due to the spaciousness of the apartments you may have 2 or more couples living in a two bedroom. I saw people smoking pot on their porch and the pool area was taken over by teens and young adults who loved to listen to raver music. My son was 4 at the time and as soon as my lease was up I moved. You not only save on your auto insurance (rates are terrible at this address), but piece of mind.
