I was looking into moving into these apartments in the next few months. I went to look at them and they seem pretty nice as far as the apartment, grounds, etc. As I ran across this site and read reviews, more bad it looks like. But I also saw that management has changed and parking and a few other things. I am just wondering if someone who lives there would fill me in on the current status of all these complaints. I myself am a college student but do not want to live somewhere with college parties and all that..I want a quite nice place to live and study with no problems or snooty people. I do have to say though when I went the person that showed that apt. to me wasnt rude but I got from them that there was sort of an "Im better than you attitude" and when I went to the gym, a few people in there also gave me that impression. Another thing I am concerned about is the saftey and noise/construction, and also the suprise things that management might spring on me that I dont know about. Normally I would try it myself and not take others advice, but I sort of got that feeling while I was there so Im wondering if some of the comments are true or maybe if they are for a ceratin building, or maybe even if that attitude is from/towards the younger college ages. I am looking into a 1 bed in the Avon. If anyone has any comments please let me know (Kristinchiles101@msn.com). I just want to be sure that this is a good idea before I pack up and move there to Portland.
Thanks.

I'm a college student, I work am tidy and I use the gym a lot.
I've never had any issues with anyone here. I don't allow myself to be intimidated by others, so I'm not sure why you feel inferior by the way people have looked at you / spoke to you. If that's a huge concearn you should look into the MLK/Alberta area. Or Hawthorne where the true "nice Portland people" live. I have noticed that if you want "hey y'all's" the South is your best bet. I like living here, I mind my own business, pay my rent on time And appreciate where I live. A lot of picky complainers live here, they didnt realize that the only apts that dont have carpet issues are ones with hardwood floors! Altamont is not luxury, ( lux is granite, marble, stone, hardwood...updated steel or black appliances, updated light fixtures, faucets, shower heads,Etc...) but they are simple.... You pay for location! Mt.Scott is beautiful and have you seen the houses across the street? Reminds me of Cali! Anyway, hope this helped!
