Buildings are awful

I lived in Brookdale Glen/ Breckenridge for three years, before and after the management change. The new management is marginally better, but only if you suck up to them. They are disorganized - they once sent me a notice that I one week to replace a bounced check before I would get evicted with 30 days notice. Problem was, my check had cleared. Good thing I wasn't out of town that week!

They never addressed ongoing issues, such as the fact that none of the dog owners (and there are many) either respected leash rules or bothered to pick up when the dogs ran around in the grassy area behind the buildings, which basically made it unusable for the rest of us.

The buildings themselves are TERRIBLE. You can hear it when somebody drops a cup two apartments away. If you think you're moving out into the suburbs for the quiet, think again. Also, they hire horrible contractors. During the renovations a couple summers ago, I came home - not having gotten notice that my deck was being worked on at all - to find that my deck door had plywood over it, nailed on from the outside. Not only had I planned to have colleagues over that evening (which I had to hurriedly move since it looked like I had boarded up windows) but it also made the apartment unbearably hot for two days till they finally took it down, since it was July and there's no cross-ventilation in those places (also an issue, although for only about a month per year).

Maybe they've addressed this in the year I've been gone, but the management also tended to ignore misbehaving tenants. Not once was I able to use the pool, because there was always some sort of ridiculous party going on, with blasting music and battery-powered blenders, making it the least peaceful place in the complex.

And that guest suite they tell you is such a perk' Horrible. I gave it two chances (what can I say, hope springs eternal), and it was a mess both times. The second time was appalling: it had not been cleaned, the sheets and towels were still lying in piles, and the trash hadn't even been taken out, so there were flies and it stank. It was revolting. That should tell you something about the complex as a whole. (Oh, and it too has paper-thin walls and is right next to the aforementioned noisy pool. By the end of it I was incredibly embarrassed and couldn't stop apologizing to my guest.)

Bottom line, this complex has limited potential, but needs serious investment and building renovation to be what it bills itself as, and they need to just shut down for a year and do it - and by "do it" I don't mean slap everything with fresh paint and call it good. I only stayed as long as I did because I couldn't afford to move and they never raised my rent when they did everyone else's...so I guess you get what you pay for.

The beautiful grass area has no use for human beings but the pets. There are so many pet owners never pick up the dog poops because they never intend to. They walk dogs without any bags!!! The apartment leasing office hasn't done anything about it. The rent is raising every year by $100~$200. You take it or leave it!!! It's horrible place to live.

I agree its a dirty place to live..the price your paying for an upgraded apt is ridiculious the work on the upgrades is done very poor the management does nothing about anything...or if they do it takes months and months of complaining...its an awful place to live!!!

I think that is completely fabricated. Whoever wrote this obviously is just mad because they probably left the apartment in horrible condition and didn't get their deposit back.

Actually, I DID get my full deposit back, because I left the apartment in good condition - probably better than the management deserved. Nice try.
