A pathetic excuse for a management company

First thing, don't believe anything the building says about being eco-friendly. When I toured the building I was willing to pay more per month to be in a green construction apartment complex. Once I moved in, I realized that none of their cleaning products, paint (I can smell the chemicals), or fixtures were green. Also, the plantings in the "roof top gardens" are just some sparse weeds and rocks. Even the carpets when cleaned smell like some sort of methane-like gas that comes from the numerous amounts of dog feces and urine. I am surprise this place isn't a biohazard.
I think the problem with this building is with the parent company- Summit. They continue to fire managers or transfer them to other properties. They have no business sense and are inept and clueless about the needs of tenants. No one wants to live in a place where the management staff continues to change every week. The person who I toured with, then signed my lease with, and later moved in with have all been three new employees. Every person has been either fired or transferred since April.
The entire community has no idea who to talk with whenever they have a problems. Instead of removing people, they should probably train them extensively to provide better customer service and better manners. From the look of panic on the employees faces it seems that the office is understaffed too. This surprises me since the rents are so high. For example, most people pay more than $750 for a cheap one apartment with no AC, no laundry, a pathetic weight room, urined stained and smelly carpets, all managed by a group of under-trained overworked employees.
I also heard this company manages some highrise apartment in the Pearl district. I checked out the Burlington Tower a month or so ago. I was hoping to move out of this terrible apartment at the end of my lease in October but this place was insanely expensive. 1500-4000 was their price range a month for apartments that are surrounded by low income housing where most of the apartments look over a post office distribution site or a construction site.
This company could have lowered rents and still saved a ton of money by keeping their employees. The turnover costs must be high; then again, no one knows what they are doing, so Summit must not be spending too much money on training.
Trust me, go elsewhere. I looked on craigslist and now rent from another group who cares about keeping residents. My new apartment is a huge one bedroom (1500 sq feet), with hardwoods, fireplace, w/d, built-ins, and a private parking spot in Irvington that I found for $895. I am only two blocks from a busline that takes me right into downtown (10 minutes). You CAN do much better.
