Let me be clear, there are things I love about Central Parc, but there are a few things that are deal breakers for me.
I live in a corner on the top floor.
What I love:
1. The location. It's beautiful out here. It's posh. It's right near Bethany Village shopping centre. It's like a block away. This makes a QFC, Walgreens, Blockbuster, Godfathers, some cafes, restaurants, dentist, everything all easily accessible.
2. Everything feels new and clean. No bugs. It has a bright feeling.
3. The closet in the master bedroom is huge! I can never go smaller now, it's the biggest walk in closet I've ever had.
4. It is laid out nicely, I really like the way this apartment is set out and my view is terrific.
What I don't like:
1. They rip you off on parking. Parking should be included, not an extra $15. The garages, for 1 car, is insane. $80. And then you aren't allowed to do oil or spark plug changes in the garages either. It's purely for storage.
2. Basically lazy, inefficient, and incompetant staff. They local staff, located at South Parc (just a short walk from here) are not rude. They are relatively polite. But they don't know what they are doing. Now granted, in the time I've been here, they all been replaced. But the new group isn't really any better. I will explain below.
3. This is a gated community. The back gate is supposed to be closed and locked at 6pm, daily. This does not happen. In a 7 day period, it will be locked properly twice. Twice it will be left completely open. And, get this, the other three times it will be closed...but they will lock the chain over only HALF the gate. So it isn't locked. They actually made the effort to lock the gate, but they don't actually follow through. How bad is that' To me, that's worse than not even going to close it. That means you don't understand the simplest functions of wrapping a chain around BOTH halves of a gate. I called the office about this and received a chuckle and a response "hah hah hah, yeah, that will be our maintance boys". No effort to do anything to fix this. In california, you'd be fired.
4. The front gate, which closes automatically at 8pm has a keycard system. Basically guests can come in after this time if they scroll through and find your name. Thing is, this has been broken since I moved in, several months ago. I've reported this problem to the office about five times. The first two times I filled out work orders. The third, the person insisted it worked. The fourth, she said it not only works, but it's under my wife's name. The fifth, said no - it is not under my wife's name, but under my name and it "Should" be working, but if it isn't, they will check it out since that's a big problem. Several weeks later...guess what' It still doesn't work. It works fine if your last name is from A to L. But after L the computer "locks up" and you can't scroll past.
Things I absolutely HATE and is why I will be leaving here shortly:
1. The after-hour staff is RUDE, misinformed, and never does what they say they will do.
a. When I first moved here, I didn't realize that the gate not being locked and closed was a chronic problem. So I politely called the after hours to tell them it was not closed properly. They said they'd send someone out. Two hours later, it didn't happen. I noticed, because I walked past it to go to the market. Ok. So I call back and remind them. They say they will send someone out. Does someone arrive' No.
b. They say they have a courtesy patrol for loud noise and such, but they do not. Teens go to the spa, which is suppose to close at 10 (and limited to 15 minute usage), and sit in it, drinking, until 12-2 am. Calling the call center for courtesy patrol is pointless. This last time, they actually called me back and told me to just call the police. Problem is, the police are busy, so I don't think they actually every come. If they do, it doesn't solve it - because this happens nearly every other night.
c. Once, I tried explaining this problem as chronic to the call center staff, and she got very rude with me. Her name was Chris and she said "if it is happening every night, why haven't you called every night'". To her surprise, I could list off every person I spoke with the last two weeks. She quieted down after that, but I was completely miffed at that point.
d. Just call them after hours once. You'll understand, they are quite rude. Get a sample of it before you sign a lease, just call the main office at 503-690-3400 after 7pm. Let it go to the afterall courtesy patrol line. You'll get a taste of what you are in for. They will ask (demand) for your name and unit number. Just give them 502 or something and a name. They don't check because they don't know. The people that answer the phones don't even know the layout or rules of the apartment complex.
2. It is noisy as hell here. The walls are super thin. I live on the top floor, in a corner, but still share walls with 3 neighbors. How' well, my non-corner wall has two neighbors. Because one is a stuido and the other unit is a wrap around the studio. I hear their televisions all the time, but fortunately they both go to bed at a reasonable hour. NOT, however, my downstairs neighbor. I can hear their television ALL the time. Now, it may not be them being rude - because I've went downstairs, several times, and asked them to turn it down. But, their tv wasn't very loud, so they didn't comply. It's just super thin and they are up, often, until 3, 4 am. You can hear the vibration and feel it in the floor. It's sick.
3. Though th is is a posh area, they seem to let a lot of riff raf in. There is no reason, at 2pm, I should be able to hear music (inside, with closed windows) from a unit three buildings down, nearly 1/2 block away. But I can. You go outside and it's like being at a rock concert. Management does N OTHING about this. Also, this gutter trash dumps their garbage OUT THEIR window. Seriously, I've seen it while washing my car. They dumped a ton of cans into the bushes under their window.
The noise and lack of follow-through (they say they'll do something, but don't), is a real big problem. I won't be staying and may break my lease to escape.

After reading your complaints with the apartment after hours support I thought you should know some very important things about call centers. The operator will ALWAYS ask for your name, unit number, and phone number. That is standard procedure. In some call centers if the operator does not ask for your information they can get fired. The most important thing you should remember about call centers is the operators are reading a script. They will most likely take a message and then send it over to your apartment complex's office. Most of the messages are not relayed - unless it is an emergency (Fire, Flood or Threat of Death).
