Here is my original post from March (which got deleted when I posted this new one today.) I have an update following. This is a long post, but I feel that people need to be warned before they move in here.

ORIGINAL FROM MARCH 2007
We moved in a few months ago. First, the good points. It is a good location (walk to Sunset TC for MAX), across the street from Bally s gym, easy freeway access, everything is brand new & clean, good storage/closet space, the maintenance staff is quick to respond to issues.

For the bad: first a little annoyance. The light fixtures in the kitchen and living areas are track lighting that have halogen bulbs. You have to buy the bulbs yourself which are about $8 a piece and we have gone through 4 of them so far. We think the wiring is faulty. They are a pain in the butt to change also, not like a regular lightbulb. Also, the track lights are shadowy and dark. These are some of the things we didn t notice/think about when we toured the model.

Like previous posts the insulation is terrible. You can clearly hear normal level conversations through the walls. We feel as though we have to whisper so our neighbors don't hear private conversations when we're in certain rooms. Even normal walking around from our neighbors upstairs sounds like a herd of elephants and keeps us awake many nights listening to them move around.

The MAIN issue is the construction noise. Whoever posted I love this place! on 3/5/07 and said the construction has stopped is WRONG. They are no where near done with it. And don t believe the office staff if they tell you it s only during business hours. If you like to sleep past 7am or God forbid you work nights and sleep days, good luck. Even on Saturday they start up between 7-8am. Monday-Friday construction usually quiets down by 5pm, but often goes for a full 12 hours. So when you're eating dinner after a stressful day and just want some peace and quiet, you have to still listen to scraping, drilling, bulldozing, etc. It really sets our nerves on edge. Sometimes the noise is so loud it rattles every glass in the apartment and you can t hear to talk on the phone. (Your level of noise of course will depend on where you are in the complex.)

Good luck with parking too, it is getting worse and worse and half the complex isn t even occupied yet. There won t be enough parking for half the cars whenever the construction is finally done. In the evening, people routinely park in red zones because there s no other choice. Like others have said, it makes you think twice about going out in the evening because most likely your space will be gone when you get back. And when someone has a party like a neighbor had the other night, you may have to park in the boonies and walk quite a ways in the rain to your own home. I could go on about other negatives, but to make a very long story short, we are saving hard for a house.

UPDATE 6/6/07
Well, many of the new units are now open which means more new tenants which means...NO PARKING SPACES! We've been here since last fall and knew that parking would be an issue just by looking around at how many spaces they had allocated. Well, they have a bunch of carports (for $75/month) but VERY few free parking spaces. Most apartments have at least 2 cars which leaves no spaces. If you need to go out in the evening, especially during the week, you most likely will come back to find your space has been taken and there are no other spaces. It could be a nice community to live in, but if you're frustrated by not having a place to park your car...it doesn't make you want to live here. And you can forget about having guests, because there would be no where for them to park! With what we pay in rent and utilities, we cannot afford (and shouldn't have to pay) to pay to park our car.

ps. In case you're wondering, construction is still going strong...I'm listening to jackhammering outside my window as I type this at 3:30 in the afternoon. (It started at the usual time of 7am!)

We understand what you are going through. Deveraux Glen sucks!!! This is the worse place to live. We regret the day we moved in here, and are looking forward to moving out in May 2008. We tried to break lease, costs too much. Does anyone know how to break a lease w/out paying these fees? Management is very rude! Garbage compactor WAY loud, shakes house, parking horrible, there has to be some way to get out of this lease.
