Agreed - Things were great before new management

PROS: Location is perfect if you work downtown. Close to all freeways and two blocks from the waterfront and Keller Auditorium. Apartments are well sound-proofed; never hear my neighbors. Parking is in secure garage with plenty of space. Accepts dogs up to 40 lbs and cats. Fitness center is fairly well equipped. Some units have washer/dryers; laundry rooms are normally empty. Common patio has a gas grill. Normally a controlled access building and safe.*
Minor CONS: The bus route in front of the building does add to the noise and the quality/quantity of folks hanging around. *With remodeling, controlled access points are now left unlocked for the construction crews. Two of three of the new management staff are not accomodating at all. Trash trucks are noisy, but that and the bus routes are out of management's control.
BIG CON: New management is remodeling the common areas and the apartments as residents move out. Construction crews have turned a wonderfully quiet and peaceful building upside down. They hog the two elevators, leer at the ladies, seem aggressive toward the male residents and are generally a nuisance. Adding insult to injury, the management does not acknowledge the inconvenience.
BIGGEST CON: My rent will increase $700 (YES - SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS) a MONTH when my lease expires - for new appliances and granite countertops.
Needless to say, I am outta here. Shame, though, I would have stayed here forever if they wouldn't raise my rent so astronomically. I am only moving because of the increase in rent. If you want to pay an inflated monthly rent, you will love it here.
