As far as downtown living goes, Fifth Avenue Place is a step above the rest. Yes, it is urban apartment living, so if you can deal with the street/bus noise, you are getting a great deal. If you have a car, you have to pay for a parking spot in the garage and it's kind of spendy, but hey, welcome to downtown. It's great for me, because I don't have a car and the bus stop is right at the front door and the max is just 2 streets away.
The neighborhood is on the rise. (I guess that's my nice way of saying sketchy but getting better...) Please know what you are getting into. Burnside is just 4 blocks away and there can definitely be questionable people out and about at 3am. But the building is secure with a keyed entry and elevator. There are even cameras all over the interior of the building. Basically, once you get inside you are as safe as can be.
The studios are huge and even have a dishwasher and microwave! There is plenty of closet space and as a shopper that's really important for me. There is even a bathroom that is beg enough for me.
Ben, the maintanence guy rocks! He always gets things done quickly. Melissa is the manager and although she is the only one in the office, she gets things done ASAP. There is a ton of paperwork that she needs to do before you can move-in because this is an income restricted building, so if you're in a hurry this is not the place for you. (It took me almost 3 weeks to get all the paperwork done).
There are definitely pros and cons to living here, but overall, this is a great place to live downtown. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
