Small units, spendy prices, and bad management!!!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I lived at the Frances Court Apartments for about a year and half. It was my first apartment and in the beginning it was great deal. The building is located close to the streetcar lines and to 21st and 23rd. A few months after I moved the building manager changed and that's when the overall building started to change. I had numerous run ins with the new building manager who made several mistakes. Not only with me, but other tenants.
Last summer she had the pilot light in our heaters turned off (without letting the building know) so when it started to get cold she had them turned back on. Well, I had left for the weekend and to come back to find not only my apartment unlocked, but copies of my key in my lock with a copy to my mailbox. Apparently, they had left it in there without returning them and she didn't double check. So for the whole weekend my apartment was left unlocked. Not exactly what you want to come home to.
Also, across the hall a girl kept having her detector going off and she had complained and tried to get someone in there to figure out the problem. Days had gone by and nothing had been done about it. I had left for class one morning hearing the beeping going off still. Later that day I was at home and heard a huge knock and 5 firemen came into my apartment and were testing heaters because there had been a carbon monoxide leak in one the units. A huge fan was run into the building and my sector of the hallway was cut off from the girl s unit.
Another night I came home to find dog poop (I assume it was from a dog but can t say for sure!) all on the stairs and in the hallways, the Frances Court doesn t allow pets. A tenant had stepped in it and had posted an angry note up on the door in a very not so nice tone directed to the building manager.
One other thing, the building is a non smoking building, I constantly smelled weed about every other day and sometimes in the middle of the day very strongly from down the hall. Two of neighbors that lived next to one another always had loud people over, which is fine, but running down the hallways at 2AM on a Tuesday morning isn t something I like.
And times, I could hear my neighbors loud and clear expressing their romantic side, if you know what I mean.
The building manager is always gone, she is hard to get a hold of, and often tried to make me feel bad for wanting to get something fixed.
The management company is another nightmare. You can call every single extension there and never get a hold of anyone. Also, the website doesn't list any address so I have never known where they were located.
They also up prices in the last 6 months. The building only has studios and you could rent a few blocks away and pay just a little more for a place two times the size of these units.
As you can see not exactly the greatest place to live at all!
