***UPDATE***
Since I wrote this first review my lease has been up twice, I only signed 6 month leases in hopes that I could get out, I am moving in March, thank god! Both times my lease was up, my rent went up.
I started out paying 930 two and a half years ago, my current rent is 1000.
My water/sewage bill is an average based on the use of the complex, 50$ per month, thats gone up from 40$ about two months ago.
I recently was informed by a rather reliable source that the water used for the sprinklers is worked into that average, thats nice.
Also since I wrote this I have found a wonderful mold patch growing in my closet.
I alerted the management, a couple times, and eventually told them if they didnt want to look at it I would have a third party come in....they were there that day.
He came in and told me that basically it is my fault for having stuff in my closet that didnt let the walls breathe.
Then he sprayed some bleach mixture on it.
Needless to say its back now, as well as on the bathroom ceiling.
Now lets talk about the leaky bathtub faucet.
It wasnt just a drip drip leak....it was actaully running 24/7...now it doesnt really effect me money wise since i have to pay 50$ per month anyway...but I like to think on an environmental level as well, and it wasting a huge amount of water.
So it took them of course a few days to get out.
They didnt send the lead maintenance man, they sent the newly hired pot-head (who you can routinely find sitting on his patio drunk with his buddies).
He swapped out the faucet, and left some lovely dirt tracks throughout the place.
It still leaked....just as bad.....
SO, we wait another few days.
They come out and take the whole wall off, and leave it that way for about three days.
But they said we could shower in the fitness center....how nice.
When they finally got it put back together there were huge gaps between the fixtures and the wall, with holes behind them.
You think maybe there could be some mold back there too' I think maybe....
Lets talk about my heating bill.
I am freezing in my apartment, all the time.
It is poorly insulated to say the least.
The windows are horrible.
My last electric bill was 170$!!! for a two bedroom apartment!! And i dont turn on my heat during the day Mon-Fri.
Heat will be at 60 degrees starting at about 7:30 in the living room.
At 10:30 heat goes off in living room and on in bedroom, until about 7 am.
That costs 170$.
My rent went up, what did i get' new windows' no' They dont care about you, they suck.
Oh yeah, you will probably see at least one broken window per week in the parking lot....someones car got stolen last weekend.
They said they hired a security company to patrol, i haven't seen them ever, not once, and that was told to us about 8 months ago.
--------------------------
Some people will settle for poor service and other problems because they say "its an apartment, what do you expect'" But why' They aren't doing us any favors by "letting" u s live there, especially Garden Park.
First off, the rent is pretty high compared to other similar places, that may be partially because of the neighborhood, but I have never lived in a complex where you have to pay your water, sewage, trash, and gas and electric bill, on top of overpaying for rent.
They also charge a 200$ non-refundable deposit plus a 200$ refundable deposit for each pet! I have two dogs...that was an extra 800$ to start! I was moving from across the country and had no choice though.
The walls are SUPER thin, I can hear my next door neighbor open the cabinets in his kitchen! I can hear neighbors' televisions through their walls from accross the yard, and there are no windows on either of the walls! My thermostat has been broken since day one, no one will fix it, my heating bills were outrageous through the winter because the heat would never shut off, so i either had turn it all the way off on.
I had a water leak in my storage unit, water was dripping from the light fixture, i could not get anyone out to even look at it for a day and a half!
But here is the best part, I just received a letter on my door reminding me that my lease is up in August, and that I have the fabulous option of renewing it and agreeing to pay a rent increase of 40$ per month! Even though the rates are the same on the web as they were when I moved in! Even better, if I want a month to month lease, my rent goes up 130$ per month! Why would they want give me a reason to move out and take the chance on a new tenant when they know that I am a good tenant already' Deosn't make much sence to me.
I do not recommend this place AT ALL.
Also, don't count on the hot tub a)working b)being hot, warm at best, c)having jets, they dont work....ever.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I had a really cute little family of mice that lived in my in unit storage space....they happily split my dog food with the ants.
I had to get my own traps...

I agree, I lived at Garden park for nearly a year, management was horrible, ALWAYS rude, never handling any maintenance requests but always threating to fine you for such trivial things as having a plant on the stoop by your front door. The lock on our apartment was broken, along with the patio door, it took well over 3 months to have anything done. The on site manager blamed the door company, who showed me a copy of the maintenance request upon fixing it: it hadn't been called in until the day before! Dont live here, dont live across the way in at wimbledon (they're as bad or worse), save yourself the heart ache!
