The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Years at this apartment: 2001-01-01 - 2001-01-01
Its been 3 years since I lived there and the BAD experience is still fresh in my mind.
I was really happy to see this website because I want everyone to know what kind of place this is.
I lived there from April 2001 to September 2001.
The Good: My apartment was well designed and I didnt share any walls with my roommate or neighbors which was great for privacy.
Despite being next to highway 26, the complex is really quiet because the trees, vegetation and the huge concrete walls do an excellent job of suppressing the traffic noise.
The hot tub and pool was great for entertaining friends during the summer and I used them often.
The Bad: Parking is OK during the week but totally sucks on the weekends when everybody invites their friends, girlfriends, and boyfriends over.
Then, you are forced to park up to one-half mile away on those days and nights, which was a dangerous walk for my girlfriend.
Sargents Towing patrols the complex hourly so dont try to unload your groceries in front of your apartment or you will get towed.
When my friends moved out of their place, HSC charged them $75 for dusting a set of blinds that probably only cost $10 for new ones.
So watch out for their petty move out fees because they will add up fast on you.
The Ugly: I moved out a week early and gave HSC my keys.
HSC somehow conveniently lost the keys and said I never turned them in.
HSC had 2 sets of contact numbers but never called me or my roommate.
HSC waited 4 days after the lease was up and then hired a locksmith to get in to the place.
Then HSC charged me for the locksmith and 4 days rent.
I felt that they were purposely trying to rip me off so I never paid them so they kept my deposit and said I still owed them a balance.
I didnt pay the balance because it would go against my principles to submit to something so dishonest.
HSC then spent the next year trying to collect the balance by sending me several letters threatening my credit.
I never paid them because I was advised that under Oregon law, if the landlord hasnt collected the debt by 1 years time they lose their right to collect.
It would be a great place to live if they fixed the parking problems and stopped trying to gouge you when you move out.
This posting will remain here until HSC refunds my deposit and gives me and my roommate a sincere apology for what they put me through.
Until that day comes, I would try other places first that have better reviews.
