For the price you can do better

As for the pros: most apts in this complex are single level so it is fairly quiet with no upstairs or downstairs neighbors. Most of the neighbors are quite friendly and the neighborhood is great--right between Hillsdale and Multnomah Village. This complex is also pet friendly.
Now for the cons: If you move in under a rent "special" you will get a BIG increase after 1 or 1 1/2 years of living here. This place is 60's construction and has problems management "won't" or "Can't" do anything about. The apartments are pretty windowless, in a one BR I only had a window in the bedroom and the glass sliding door in the living room, that was all. This is NOT a good place to live in the winter but okay in the summer. Mold grew on the walls of my bathroom, living room and bedroom. Management told me to turn on fans which are useless, besides it's too damn cold outside to keep fans on in the winter! It can be chilly here in the winter so heating bills can be high. In the winter there was always condensation coming from the toliet bowl all over the floor EVERY time I took a shower, management told me nothing could be done, it is a common problem in these apts. and all that can be done is for ME to mop it up all the time. I also had a mouse or mice in my apt, I was shocked to see there was an opening in the wall under the kitchen sink where the pipes go, that should be sealed off so rodents can't get in. Managements response to the mice was to hand me some rat poisoning, NOT a good solution in a place where domestic animals are present. I also had the WORSE ant problem I ever had. I kept food in storage containers to keep the mice away only to find them invaded by ants. My neighbors had them too, and I was told ants are a common problem in these apts. And some moron put the smoke detectors right next to the kitchens, the thing would go off EVERY time I boil water! Management seems to think there is no other wall suitable for a smoke detector, again, they won't do anything so don't ask.
This place also does not keep managers. They always fire them after only 3 mos. Everytime they fire a manager this lady who works for the management co. comes in to manage the place. She is a b*tch, and people have moved out because of her. For the rent you can find a much nicer apt in this area.
