After tireless months of apartment hunting and having no luck, I came upon Hillsdale Heights and fell in love with it almost immediately. Situated in the heart of the charming Hillsdale neighborhood, the location can't be beat. Shops, cafes, supermarkets and eateries are literally footsteps from your front door. Several major bus lines roll through for quick access to downtown Portland, Beaverton, and Tigard.
The complex is about ten years old, and is kept in pretty good shape. The grounds are usually fairly clean. There are a variety of floor plans, all boasting spacious layouts and some nice amenities, for a really good price. I especially enjoy having the in-unit washer and dryer.
The mangers here are very kind, and typically very helpful. Sometimes I've had to call several times to get something repaired, but it's been great compared to most places I've lived. They seem to have a rotating maintenence crew, who are not always the most reliable. If you keep on them, you'll get your needs met in a fairly timely fashion, though.
The tenants are courteous and respectful, for the most part. There are a few people who make a little too much noise at night, but this hasn't been a problem. The population here seems to mostly younger adults, in their twenties and thirties. I've had no real problem with anyone here.
Over all, this is probably the best place in Portland in it's price range. The location is perfect, the community is relaxed and pleasant, the apartments are loaded with features, and the management is decent. I would suggest Hillsdale Heights to anyone looking for luxury on a tight budget!
