I loved my apartment, lots of character and plenty of room for just me. I first started running into probelms when my electrical fuses started blowing. The landlord replaced some at first, then told me I would have to buy my own. I probably spent close to $100 replacing them. One night I got a knock on my door (at almost 10 PM!!)from another tenant who was sent up by the landlord to get a fuse from ME. Completely unacceptable
They turn the water off at least once every 2 weeks, sometimes for 4 hours (I work from home and coudn't even flush my toilet).
The elevator is constantly broken.
They charged me additional rent fees which I was unaware of until my 3rd month there, when they sent me a bill for all of it(rather than just tell me the first month I was short).
The landlord sent someone up to check a leak without giving me 24 hour notice and I woke up at 8am to a man standing in my living room.
The landlord knocked on my door at least 5 times without any kind of notice. When I asked nicely to get at least a phone call first, they were very rude and acted like it was out of line to make that request.
And last, you can hear every little thing that goes on around your apartment, which didn't bother me but I recieved more than one noise complaint when it was just me and a friend hanging out.
Bottom line, cute building and GREAT location but the management made me miserable and I paid A LOT to get out of my lease early. Find somewhere else, it's worth the search.

from the timing of this review i would hazard a guess that you're speaking of the substitute landlord that took over for the regular manager over the summer. i would have to agree that this person was terrible, as we also had issues with fuses blowing and were told we had to take care of it ourselves. we also had issues with this manager constantly shutting all the windows in the hallway during the 100 degree weather we had. can we say uncomfortable? there's no air conditioning in the building so we DEPEND on cross breezes to keep us sane. the reasoning was that the open windows were causing debris to come into the hallway, meaning they have to clean more. we were appalled at the lack of care for tenant's basic living needs during the time they were here. that said.. the regular manager is awesome. fair and positive. we are so thankful she is back in the building. it's an old building and current management does the best they can to keep the tenants educated on how to care for it, and updated on when it needs a little extra care. i would really hope the actions of the summer manager wouldn't keep someone else from moving into this building. it's a great community and i love living here.
