I have lived here for TWO years and although the first management was acceptable, the new management has been the worst I have ever dealt with!
1. Our rent went up $75 right when the new management took over.
2. They closed the hot tub down completely for a month until I complained and then they closed it at 5 pm. I work till 5 pm and can't even use it.
3. Just today, it is a hot 90 degree day and I wanted to use the pool and it was closed for the summer. Obviously, they are just being lazy and don't want to maintain it anymore. (see picture)
4. My roof has leaked 12 different times. The last management was quick to respond, this management, I don't even think fixed the problem yet, they just waited till summer came. When they came after I called, the manager's exact words were, "there's not much I can do, but I GUESS I could put a call in." It continued to leak until it stopped raining, so I'll be looking forward to the rainy season coming.
5. As soon as the new management came, they closed at least 20 parking spaces. There is NO WHERE for guests (let alone an apartment with 2 cars) to park.
6. Water pressure is next to zero and lukewarm. (seriously...it DRIPS out)
7. The outside windows have not been washed for 2 years and are covered in dirt. It is barely visible through them.(see Pictures)
8. Where my ceiling leaked, there is now huge orange stains that they have not even thought about fixing. (See Pictures)
9. Our garbage disposal broke with nasty food in it. It took THREE MONTHS to get the part for it, while our apartment smelled like stank-ass rotting crap.
10. They put the wrong fuses in our fuse box, when we complained that we couldn't use both heaters at the same time, it started a fire that almost took out my roommates brand new bed. Luckily, he made it home and caught it. To fix it, they cut a chunk of the carpet out of the closet and the only reason they fixed that was because we complained.
11. when the new management came in, the cost of laundry went up too. Which would be ok if they had good service, but they are money hungry with horrible service.
12. There is a huge sink hole in our only parking place (did I mention we have a two bedroom and one parking place') It grows every time it rains see picture!

The only reason I am still living here is because I am looking for a house and I don't want to move twice.

I would seriously consider other options before moving to Markana.

Just so you know I have never taken the time to sit at my computer and write a review for anywhere or anything...until today when I was walking down to the pool to cool off on one of this years finest days and there was a lock on the door to the pool with a pool closed sign on it. This was the straw that broke the camels back, I was so irate and this was the only thing that I could think of that would calm my nerves that was legal. So happy apartment hunting! I will be joining you soon, hopefully.

Well this is me again (the author of this review), writing another complaint. My roof did in fact leak again once it started raining. And just last night they illegally towed three of my guests which put me out $760.00 to get my friends cars back. They were parked in a supposed fire lane, one that the only marking was a blurry spray paint stencil that had mostly been washed away. There was no red curb or signs where they parked. Or any signs anywhere on the property that defined where not to park. When I asked for reimbursement I was rudely told that only way they are paying for is if I sued them for it and then they hung up on me to top it all off. Well I’ll tell you what; they have tempted me to go to talk to a lawyer who assured me from a legal standpoint they were in the wrong. I just want to reiterate that this was once a OK place to live for the price, even though it meant putting my with an exuberant amount of hassles, but now it is terribly managed and is a constant headache that is just not worth it. I don’t really care where I live now just as long as it’s not being run by these managers.

As for your friends cars getting towed, it is CLEARLY marked with signs stating no parking fire lane, so I am not sure why you couldn't read it. As for the other issues, they are being fixed. The new landlords walked into a huge mess simply because the previous landlords had little to no experience in basic maintnence. The hot tub was closed for awhile due to the fact that someone was smoking weed in there and they left their evidence. I would MUCH rather have the hot tub closed than to walk in with my 3 year old and see pot lying around. Once the tenants who were rwesponsible for this had vacated their apartment, the hot tub was again reopened with a 10 pm closing time. Water leaks are being fixed, we are getting a brand new roof. I to hate that there isn't much visitor parking, but from what I and several others have been told, the parking is going to be redone next summer. While I have had my own fair share of problems with my apartment (who the hell hasn't, itys an apartment for petes sake) I have found that getting things fixed PROPERLY is MUCH easier now than it was when the previous landlords were here. The only difference is it is done RIGHT the first time. As for the cost of laundry, maybe your building went up, but ours has stayed the same and so has two other buildings, so I am not sure where you got that it went up. As for rent increasing, be lucky it was only 75, I know three people in three other apartment complexes and theirs went up by 100 and 150. Rent goes up doofus. The fire you had, I know all about. This was NOT and I will repeat again NOT the current landlords faults. It was the previous landlords who allowed a stupid stoner (TJ) to install the heaters and guess what, he bought the WRONG heaters, so that is where the fire came in, NOT because of the new landlords but because the previous party landlords. I am not saying this place is perfect, no apartment is, but this person has issues that can EASILY be explained. I personally would recommend this place NOW, but a year and a half ago, with the previous landlords, I would have been moved by now. The mangement now are some of the friendlist I have had. Their maintanance is above par in comparison to what it was. It takes time to clean up other peoples messes and the current landlors are doing just that. Will the problems be fixed immediatly, no, but they are making big progress towards improving this place, they have overridden Dalton Management MANY times to assure that their renters concerns are addressed properly and quickly. I am not sure what this persons real problem is as everything he mentioned has either already been fixed, is in the process of being fixed or have a logical reason for not being done. This person needs to find a party pad that has tons of parking for his keggers. Just my opinion. If you are looking for a great apartmenty with VERY friendly landlords and a great community, I would highly recommend Markana. :D

I moved into this tenants apartment last month. Lucky for me the apartment was freshly painted and updated. I think it sucks that one person can have such a horrid experience while another can have a flawless experience. It is hard when new management comes into any situation ... new personalities and new way of looking at issues ... hopefully things will get better, as I am sure is intended by the management. 1. One of the reasons I have always lived with a lease ... rent increases seem not to be so bad when a lease is in place ... $75 is pretty steep. 2. I have asked around about this review and it does seem reasonable that while working on evicting problem tenants that the management do their best to keep illegal activities from happening ... not fair to the rest of us ... I guess a good reason to keep your 420 activities to your self so others don't have to suffer? 3. I wasn't here in September, but, from what I know of pool care, once you start to winterize a pool you dump tons of chemicals in to make sure you can easily clean it at the beginning of the next season ... that work could have already been done since most pools are shut down after labor day. 4. Well, no leaks ... just annoying sound of a river over head when it rains ... crossing my fingers and hoping that I don't experience the same joy. 5. Oh GOD is visitor parking a NIGHTMARE! The visitor spaces are not very well painted so you can't find them in the evening. I only hope the idea of taking all visitor spaces away and giving all the two and three bedroom apartments two spaces follows through. I used to be a volunteer firefighter so I understand the need for the fire lane ... sucks ... this property was not built for people with cars. If you want to host a party ... rent a venue, you just can't do it here. 6. I haven't had a decent shower in over a month ... hot water pressure is HORRID ... My uncle is a plumber and unless Dalton wants to replace all the hot water pipes in the apartment ... I can look forward to weak showers. 7. There is talk that we will get new siding and windows this summer ... the panel you see is a middle double pain window that you can't assess and has mold growing inside ... yummy. 8. There is now a BIG white clumpy mess where they tried to fix it ... but without taking out the entire ceiling I think it was the best they could do ... for $775 I can not look up ... at least it no longer fills up like a bowl when it rains. 9. Not your problem ... but viniger and baking soda will eat away food that is left behind in drains. My son put his peas down a drain in the bathroom sink once ... yeah that smell is HORRID. 10. Yeah ... heaters that look like toasters are not a good thing ... ever. The heaters have been replaced and so has the carpet. (Sad this wasn't done while the previous tenant was here) 11. Ugh ... I hate $2.50 for a load of laundry ... and you get old guys looking in your dryer wanting to know whos stuff is in it ... grrr! Hate not having my own washer and dryer. 12. Hey ... it makes an awesome ice rink for my kids ... I am lucky to have a larger vehicle so I can avoid parking in it. Promises of repathing the parking lot this summer with reissuing parking spaces ... should be a good thing. So far so good, I know everyones experiences are different and hope the previous tenant found a good place to call home. This is a temporary move for me as well as I am looking for my own home ... until then ... these are old apartments with live on site management so as with any apartment community there are going to be advantages and disadvantages.

I lived there during 3 different managers its the owners and the property management Dalaton. Cheap don't want to come out of pocket to fix problems correctly. Just okie rig.
