A real hidden gem

I just moved into Marquam during the winter from southern california, and from the get-go (thanks to this website) I knew what I had to look forward to: the steep hills, the bad maitenance, a manager who wasn't going to listen to me.
But it was all wrong. The parking lot is sometimes a bit awkward to navigate, but not enough to really complain about- small things that were wrong in my apartment when I moved in were fixed within the week of me telling the office about it.
The buildings themselves are pretty old but the location simply can not be beat. It's quiet; during the day it's nothing but birds at play and the wind through the trees and at night just a calm quiet. Inside there are the usual muffled thumps and bumps that come from a building full of tenants, but it's never more loud than a house settling in at night.
On the hill itself there are few amenities, and that can be a problem for someone who doesn't drive...fortunately there's the always running TriMet bus passing through the hospital (which is just a three minute walk away) and that new tram waiting to take me anywhere I need to go.
All in all, it may not be everyone's cup of tea. But I feel pretty confident when I tell people my apartment has the best location in the city.
